Overview

We’re seeking a visionary and operationally-minded leader to evolve Microsoft’s Commercial Marketing creative production ecosystem. The Head of Creative Production & AI-Enabled Content Operations will unify the strategic clarity of creative producer responsibilities with scaled content operations powered by AI, data, and insight-driven workflows. You will architect systems that enable high-impact, compliant, and insight-informed content across video, design, text, and social — accelerating velocity, performance, and consistency across commercial areas including Microsoft 365, Azure, and Security.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in content operations, creative production, or marketing systems leadership OR Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in content operations, creative production, or marketing systems leadership OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.
  • Experience building and optimizing large-scale content workflows in or for complex enterprise environments (with employees of 5,000 or more).
  • Experience with the creative development lifecycle, brand/legal approval processes, and omnichannel content delivery.
  • Experience integrating performance data and social insights into content planning and iteration.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 11+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years people management experience.
    • Experience translating complex systems into clear narratives for senior stakeholders.

Content Design M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities

Production

  • Leads and manages the production department that supports creative teams across strategy, creative, visual design, customer stories, and other creative disciplines.
  • Defines and implements production processes, workflows, and standards.
  • Oversees the execution of all creative assets (video, digital, social, experiential, etc.).
  • Define and operationalize the role of creative producers across channels, ensuring clarity in ownership, workflows, and expectations.

AI Enabled Operations

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Technology team, creative strategy, and other disciplines to design and implement end-to-end content workflows that integrate AI from ideation to publishing for organic and campaign content.
  • Partner with brand, legal, engineering, and creative leads to define governance, content standards, and AI workflows that ensure compliance and quality.
  • Develop systems for creative leads and AI Agents that harness social listening, search trends, and performance signals into upstream content strategy and live iteration.

Strategic Planning

  • Partners with creative and strategy leads to align production with priority marketing initiatives.
  • Translates creative concepts into executable production plans.
  • Forecasts production needs based on pipeline and upcoming priority marketing initiatives.

Quality Control & Delivery

  • Ensures all deliverables meet creative, technical, and brand standards.
  • Oversees quality assurance processes and final asset delivery.
  • Manages versioning, localization, and platform-specific requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Project Management Office (PMO), project managers, and account teams to align on timelines and deliverables.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in campaign planning and execution.
  • Support new business pitches and client presentations with production insights.

Budget, Resourcing, and Agency Management

  • Own production budgets across projects.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and manage agencies.
  • Optimize resource allocation and utilization across internal teams and agencies.

Operations

  • Partners with teams across the organization to centralize operations under one technology stack.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure workflow efficiency, content velocity, and the business impact of AI-powered content production.
  • Monitor and adapt to emerging tools, AI advancements, and content governance trends to future-proof creative operations.
