Microsoft’s CISO Engineering organization is seeking a Principal PM Manager, to build the future of security tools to protect Microsoft’s products and customers. We are looking for a person who can effectively engage across security and product teams and contribute to defining and executing on a strategic vision. An ideal candidate is passionate about technology and security. You’ll drive the development of tools and processes that surface risks, enable remediation, and deliver clear reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years people management experience
  • 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market.
  • Proven ability and willingness to operate and influence teams in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Ability to communicate and influence partners and stakeholders at the executive level
  • Proficient ability to bring clarity to ambiguity by defining success metrics, aligning stakeholders, and authoring strategic direction documents that drive cross-functional execution.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide either proof of their country of citizenship or proof of their U.S. permanent residency or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees may verify status using other documents, where applicable.

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity, including threat detection, threat intelligence, risk assessment, and incident response.
  • 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
  • 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).

Product Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year. Responsibilities

  • Guides Product Strategy: Innovative leader who identifies customer’s needs for new security initative. Leads team’s ability to receive feedback and adapt in collaboration with engineering team for product development. Provides security and product expertise to help teams influence and land difficult trade offs. Coaches teams to effectively evaluate tools to develop deprecation rationale and communicates planning and transition.
  • Design and deliver new security capabilities and technologies to protect and defend Microsoft’s products and services.
  • Leads with expertise: Acts as subject matter expert to drive engagement with engineering and product teams. Knowledge of strategic project planning and the creation of product objectives, resources, operations and policies.
  • Provides best practices for defining success: Shares measural indicators and success metrics to build outcomes and goals. Manages tracking and measuring of indicators to ensure high quality, compliance, and performance across feature areas.
  • Define, measure and report performance metrics to drive improvement and innovation across product teams.
  • Respond to real-time feedback, improve support processes, and advocate for security needs throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead a team and drive clarity in solving complex technical and security challenges, making sound decisions in fast-paced, ambiguious environments by evaluating options and determining effective resolutions. Lead by modeling Microsoft’s values, coaching teams toward clear outcomes, and caring deeply about individual growth—empowering others through clarity, accountability, and support.
