Overview

The Azure High Performance Computing & Artificial Intelligence (HPC & AI) product team drives the hardware roadmap, software, and services that enable our users to run technical computing workloads in Azure - HPC simulations, AI & machine learning, remote visualization, and immersive gaming experiences. We are responsible for providing Azure customers with supercomputer-class capabilities to accelerate their research, drive competitive differentiation, and finding answers to some of the most difficult questions of science, industry, and entertainment.


AI technologies are being merged with existing HPC approaches, and both are moving to the cloud. At this critical juncture we are looking for a dynamic, passionate, visionary, collaborative, and results-oriented technical program manager to define and deliver a capacity roadmap and capex plan that supports workload requirements, optimizes for revenue/margin targets and meets the expectations of strategic customers and a diverse set of leadership stakeholders in a scalable manner. You’ll define the planning principles and roadmap, and work with a diverse set of teams across Azure to ensure successful implementation end-to-end. You will work to enhance current and future processes and where applicable, propose, design and implement automation solutions. The results of your work will have broad customer and Microsoft impact. Your role will require deep collaboration across Azure product groups, Customers, Sales teams, Finance, and Supply chain to deliver success for Azure in Workload-optimized solutions. You will also need to work with software engineering teams to develop internal solutions that allow us to scale and move more quickly. This role requires a multi-disciplinary skill set combining a high degree of competence in the areas of product, software engineering, finance, analytics, and supply chain, strategic communications, and communications with regards to stakeholder partnerships.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis,
    • OR product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Impact and grow the Azure HPC & AI business by supporting the success of some of the most important customers and partners, driving innovation and thought leadership
  • Collaborate across Azure product groups, Customers, Sales teams, Finance, and Supply chain to deliver workload-optimized solutions for Azure
  • Work with Supply Chain, Datacenter Planning and Finance team to enhance current planning processes and develop right reporting to provide impactful reporting to leadership team.
  • Identify automation opportunities and partner with engineering teams to design, implement, test and drive adoption.
  • Define and deliver a capacity roadmap and capex plan that supports customer workload requirements, optimizes for revenue/margin targets and meets the expectations of strategic customers and a diverse set of leadership stakeholders
