Overview

The Azure Kubernetes Service team is focused on building scalable, reliable, and secure container management and orchestration services for Microsoft Azure. This includes supporting both Linux and Windows environments to ensure broad compatibility and performance across diverse workloads.


Our mission is to define the next generation of cloud-native infrastructure. We are seeking software engineers who are enthusiastic about container technologies and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. Ideal candidates are passionate about developing tools that streamline the software development lifecycle, enabling teams to build, deploy, and scale applications efficiently on Azure.


This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of DevOps tooling and infrastructure automation. Engineers will collaborate across teams to solve complex challenges, improve system reliability, and enhance the developer experience through thoughtful design and engineering.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Golang, C++, C# or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with at least two of the following technologies:
    • Linux or similar Unix-like server environments
    • Containers, Kubernetes, or other Cloud Native technologies
    • Azure or other cloud management platforms.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Golang, C++, C# or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Golang, C++, C# or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and processes, such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience collaborating on, building, and maintaining medium to large-scale software programs actively developed by multiple engineers.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

  • Balance pragmatism with vision; deliver continuous improvements to the team’s process and codebase
    Build automation to prevent and/or remediate service problems from becoming production incidents
