Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, OR Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) experience with cloud platform technologies, demonstrating expertise in one or more areas such as compute, networking, or storage on Microsoft Azure and/or other competitive cloud platforms.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.

1+ year(s) experience in technical leadership and architecture design for large-scale software systems, including:
- Demonstrated ability to define and guide complex architectural solutions.
- Prior experience in coaching or leading technical teams.

- Proven ability to identify problem spaces and adapt quickly in evolving business environments.
- Commitment to continuous learning, curiosity, and skill development.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges and identify opportunities from strategic customers’ perspectives, ensuring alignment with their business goals.
Define and plan technology requirements and solutions to address complex end-to-end business and engineering challenges through the lens of Customer Reliability Engineering (CRI).
Drive architecture planning, reviews, and development by helping customers define their solution architecture on the Microsoft Azure platform. Lead resolution of issues and gaps across Azure teams and proactively identify feature gaps to ensure customer success.
Partner with relevant stakeholders to determine user requirements across multiple scenarios, ensuring clarity and alignment throughout the development lifecycle.
Leverage subject-matter expertise across product features to coordinate project plans, release schedules, and work items across multiple teams, resolving customer-facing issues effectively.
Take ownership as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentor engineers across support, product, and solution teams, and manage on-call escalations to monitor and mitigate system degradation, downtime, or service interruptions.
Continuously seek new knowledge and adapt to emerging trends, technical solutions, and patterns that enhance availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance. Share insights with peers while promoting consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
