Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer for Microsoft Teams Modern Triage team, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems to support critical customer needs. Microsoft Teams supports over 300 million daily active users globally and serves as the primary tool for collaboration, productivity, and communication for work and life. It also provides a platform for ISVs to build and extend applications and agents to the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead and strengthen our efforts in building the backend for agentic streams and modern triage workflows. This role focuses on developing scalable infrastructure that delivers exceptional user value and empowers users to efficiently interact with agentic content.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that drive productivity and engagement across Microsoft Teams’ global and diverse user base. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system architecture.
- Experience working with SQL/MySQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with high-scale services and RESTful APIs on cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with debugging customer issues and managing livesite mitigations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning.
- Experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and big data analytics is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of work experience in backend development.

- Architect and implement end-to-end solutions involving backend, AI Agents with state-of-the-art frameworks and technologies.
- Optimize existing systems for enhanced performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Design and maintain APIs to enable robust integration with frontend and partner services to deliver seamless end-to-end user experiences.
- Develop tools for monitoring, analytics, and recovery to improve service quality and resiliency.
- Work collaboratively with product managers, partner engineers, leaders and applied scientists to deliver impactful features.
- Ensure all solutions/services comply with security and privacy standards.
