Overview

Microsoft is building sustainability markets to advance the company’s strategic priorities for 2030 and beyond. As Senior Manager, Market Development, you will lead the sourcing and evaluation of sustainable solutions in fuels, materials, and additional sectors of Microsoft’s supply chain.

This role requires the skills of systems thinking paired with deep expertise in negotiating procurement transactions and establishing partnerships across industry. You will collaborate across internal Microsoft business groups and external partners to scale impact and accelerate progress.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree AND 3+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, carbon strategy, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area OR Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, carbon strategy, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in cross-functional leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills

Additional and/or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree AND 6+ years' work experience in environmental sustainability, sustainable sourcing and procurement, environmental policy, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Philanthropies, Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, or related area OR Bachelor's Degree

Corporate Social Responsibility IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $105,800 - $204,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $136,200 - $223,300 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Source market opportunities to contract for sustainable fuels and materials relevant for Microsoft’s value chain.
  • Lead program management of a robust pipeline and due diligence program to derisk emerging technical solutions and to negotiate contract terms.
  • Support investment due diligence with subject matter insights on technical, financial, and execution risk.
  • Partner internally with carbon strategy and finance teams to develop novel business models and financial structures that support 2030 corporate targets.
  • Collaborate with science, policy, reporting, and operations teams to manage risk and opportunities to market delivery.
  • Collaborate with Microsoft business groups to share subject matter insights on market supply and standards.
