Microsoft Intune is a comprehensive endpoint management solution that provides IT organizations with a cloud-based platform to manage and secure their devices, applications, and data. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team focused on building and scaling data platform services that power critical scenarios for Microsoft Intune. As a member of our team, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of highly scalable and reliable software components, drive technical strategy. We're looking for someone deeply passionate about data processing, analytics, and building systems that power intelligent decision-making. You will be enthusiastic about exploring the application of AI in everyday engineering workflows, advocating for its use as a productivity multiplier across teams, and identifying opportunities to drive continuous improvements through automation, intelligent tooling, and data-driven insights.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on distributed systems, high-scale engineering, and cloud computing
  • In-depth knowledge of distributed systems design principles, scalability patterns, and high-availability architectures
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Azure Synapse Analytics

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Software Development

  • Design, develop, and deploy distributed systems software components in data platform services, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance
  • Build and optimize large-scale data pipelines using Azure Synapse, Apache Spark, and Scala
  • Implement efficient data ingestion, transformation, and processing workflows across diverse sources
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code, and review contributions from entry-level engineers

Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical design and architecture discussions for data platform services
  • Drive technical roadmap and vision for data platform services, aligning with Intune's overall strategy
  • Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize project backlogs

Knowledge Sharing

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, ensuring knowledge sharing and best practices

Innovation and R&D

  • Explore emerging technologies and trends, assessing their impact on our distributed systems and services
  • Drive proof-of-concept projects, demonstrating innovative solutions and technical expertise

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations
  • Communicate technical vision and roadmap to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
  • Embody our culture and values
