Overview
As a Cloud & AI Platforms Specialist within the UK Azure Cloud & AI Platforms Public Sector Team, you will play a pivotal role in helping Public Sector customers migrate, modernise and transform their infrastructure & data estates and unlock the full potential of AI. You will lead the development and management of Azure solutions across a set of Public Sector customers, with a particular focus on Local and Regional Government.
This role combines strategic solution selling with expertise in infrastructure and data modernisation, analytics, and AI. You will guide customers through their Azure transformation journey, helping them unify their data estates, modernise operational services, and adopt advanced analytics and governance platforms. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will collaborate with technical, delivery, partner, and consulting teams to drive customer success and achieve business outcomes.

As part of the UK Azure Cloud & AI Platforms Team, the Cloud & AI Platforms Specialist plays a critical role in helping UK Public Sector customers—particularly in the Local & Regional Government sector—transform their cloud estates and unlock business value through intelligent Cloud and AI solutions.
You will be a solution sales expert, leading engagements with our customers to drive their Cloud Strategy across three priority solution plays:
- Migrate & Modernise Your Estate - helping customers transition their existing infrastructure, applications and data to Azure.
- Unify Your Data Platform - helping customers consolidate and simplify data estates using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks
- Innovate with Azure AI Apps & Agents - empowering customers to build secure, scalable, multi-agent AI architectures.
You will lead a virtual team of Solution Engineers, delivery experts, partners, and consultants to progress opportunities and exceed quarterly revenue and consumption targets for Cloud & AI Platforms.
As a trusted advisor, you will bring deep expertise in Azure Services, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, and Microsoft OneLake to support customers in evaluating their business requirements, recommending tailored solutions, and demonstrating value to win technical decisions.

Qualifications
Required: Strong technology-related sales or account management experience
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field AND relevant experience
- Proven experience in Consulting/Solutions Sales focused on cloud and data platforms, including:
- Infrastructure and Cloud Migration – experience with Azure IaaS, hybrid cloud environments, and modernising legacy systems
- Data Estate Modernisation – working with structured and unstructured data platforms such as Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Hadoop, Spark, and Data Lake
- Analytics & Insights – enabling business intelligence through tools like Power BI and scalable analytics platforms
- AI & Machine Learning – deploying Azure AI services, ML models, and governance frameworks
- Application Innovation – supporting customers in building and modernising apps using Azure services, containers, and DevOps practices
Additional & Preferred Certifications
- AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals – foundational understanding of cloud concepts and Azure services
- DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals – core data concepts and Azure data services
- AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals – AI workloads and considerations on Azure
- Certificate or Degree in Cloud Computing, Data Science, or Machine Learning – academic grounding in relevant technologies
Responsibilities
- Sales Execution - Engages in conversation with customers aligned to their industry and collaborates with account and partner team to drive and qualify new opportunities and build pipeline. Identifies customer business and technology readiness, proactively builds external stakeholders' mapping, implements strategies to accelerate the closing of deals, contributes input on strategies to drive and close prioritized opportunities, coaches team members in deal plan execution, and implements close plans.
- Scaling and Collaboration - Collaborates with our Partner Solutions teams, identifies new partners, develops joint proposals with partners, and contributes to developing partner strategies. Applies role orchestration model and navigates the Microsoft organization to bring the best impact to the customer.
- Technical Expertise - Leads conversations and sets up events within Microsoft, mentors others and develops strategies for best practice sharing, initiates conversations with prospective customers/partners at events, acts as a subject matter expert in one or more solution area(s). Collaborates with the 'compete' global black belts (GBB) to analyse competitor products, solutions, and/or services and implement strategies.
- Delivers Results Through Teamwork - Drives the execution of projects, partners and collaborates with other teams on related deliverables, and leverages others in relevant work streams.
