We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst with strong financial accounting and analytical skills to join our growing team in Toronto. In this role, you will have ownership over a variety of real estate assets under both the North American alternatives portfolio as well as the Asia Pacific portfolio; you will gain a full understanding of their operations and work with key internal/external stakeholders. For this portfolio, you will be accountable for a diverse set of activities, including full cycle accounting and reporting, real estate performance analysis, certain aspects of consolidated regional reporting and analysis, financial planning, and ad hoc support related to transaction activity.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Financial Reporting (approx. 50%-60%):
• Financial reporting for various assets including timely and accurate recording of monthly results obtained from service providers;
• Financial reporting for certain corporate structures;
• Month end review and reporting to Corporate Consolidations team: preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations, key indicator and variance analysis against budgets, equity, investment and intercompany account reconciliations, cash management, general and administrative expense analysis, foreign exchange analysis etc.;
• Preparation of various financial information and analysis for asset managers and capital partners;
• Preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statements or review of financial statements prepared by third party service providers in various jurisdictions, ensuring consistent application of accounting standards in accordance with local GAAP or IFRS;
• Coordination of interim and year-end audits for various entities;
• Technical analysis to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for acquisitions and dispositions; and
• Completing ad-hoc analyses as required by management.
Financial Planning & Analysis and Operational Support (approx. 25%-35%):
• Review and analysis of annual operating plans and quarterly reforecasts with our various regional teams and asset managers;
• Interpret performance at the portfolio and sector level, analyze returns, and understand impact drivers;
• Liaise with internal and external parties to facilitate capital contributions, distributions, and flow of funds; and
Assisting with the execution of portfolio strategies, including supporting the investments team on the execution of transactional activity.
Process Innovation and Controls (approx. 10%-20%):
• Participation in projects with a focus on continuous improvement and making recommendations for efficiencies in day to day responsibilities while considering future scalability; and
• Ensure compliance with Oxford’s processes and controls.
To succeed in this role, you:
• Have completed a University degree and obtained a Professional Accounting Designation;
• Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related capacity (financial reporting/analysis or audit experience from mid-size or Big Four firm) preferably with real estate exposure and have a proven record of strong performance;
• Have experience working with international organizations in a multi-currency environment;
• Have dealt with complex organizational structures and consolidations;
• Are analytical and have the ability to produce analysis with appropriate style and language to support conclusions;
• High attention to detail and strong follow-up skills;
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong process management/improvement skills with a mindset for continuous improvement;
• Embrace collaborative sharing of knowledge within a team environment;
• Are driven to achieving results and continuously striving to deliver the highest performance through critical thinking;
• Excel in working in a fast pace, dynamic environment and have demonstrated time management and organizational skills, and an ability to prioritize responsibilities;
• Are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook; and
• Have exposure to ERP & Consolidation systems, preferably JD Edwards and Hyperion Financial Management.
