The Full Stack Developer will join a team that leads the delivery of the products and platforms that enable OMERS Global Investments (GI) to analyze opportunities, action investment decisions and optimize the OMERS investment portfolio. The Investments Products & Services team supports all investment teams including Capital Markets, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Growth Equity and Ventures, and in close collaboration with Finance, Risk & Compliance teams.

As a key member of the Investments Products & Services team, the Full Stack Developer is instrumental in designing solutions, championing industry best practices and delivering high quality software to support investment decision making.

The Full Stack Developer will operationalize and maintain software applications deployed to the OMERS investment entities and cultivate a business relationship that assists in meeting business demands. The individual must also support and collaborate with product managers, delivery managers, business analysts and investment professionals and engage in technical support, research and integration as part of 1 or more product team(s).

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

Technical

  • Translating requirements into solutions

  • Defining and executing technical test plans, performing unit, performance and integration tests and automating regression tests

  • Deploying software applications to achieve a high level of reliability, scalability and security

  • Optimizing performance of software applications

  • Participating in solution build, delivery, support and troubleshooting

  • Provisioning and managing Azure resources, including security and cost

  • Monitoring applications. Improving reliability. Automating audit

Organizational

  • Operating in an Agile development environment

  • Communicating effectively with other engineers and various other partners such as product managers, data & business analysts, IT infrastructure specialists, security specialists, enterprise architects and members of senior management

  • Leading change and communicating impact to partners and fellow team members

  • Identifying, defining and implementing opportunities for improving existing processes

  • Exhibiting the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring timely delivery

  • Participating in establishing sound software development practices for the team and the organization

  • helping shape and scale the future of our development and production infrastructure

Qualifications:

Professional

  • Experience. 5+ years solving sophisticated technical projects using Microsoft Azure services or equivalent work experience. Financial industry application is preferred.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or engineering field of study or equivalent work experience

  • Industry Knowledge of best practices. Previous experience in developing and deploying operational procedures, tuning guides and best practices documentation

  • Relationship Building. Consistent track record of building deep technical relationships. Experience in aligning expectations across various partners

  • Problem-Solving. The ability to troubleshoot failures and resolve technical issues with minimal direction

  • Teamwork. Motivated and keen to work in a collaborative environment with a focus on team success

Technical

  • Enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, architecture designs, and technology management

  • Breadth of technical experience and knowledge across the Azure Platform, with depth / Subject Matter Expertise in three or more of the following resources: 1) Azure Data Factory 2) Azure Functions and/or Web Apps using Python 3) Azure Logic Apps 4) Front-end development (ex: Azure Static Web Apps) 5) Azure SQL Database

  • Proven experience automating CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or equivalent work experience

  • Experience designing database schema, tables and stored procedures.

  • Experience in integrating UI with server-side logic, understanding concepts like RESTful APIs, JSON, and promise for asynchronous processing.

  • Experience in JavaScript (Libraries such as react, angular) along with HTML, CSS, and other related technologies to develop functional and appealing user interfaces.

  • Design and implement the look, layout, and features of a website or application to enhance user experience. This may include conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, and testing designs to ensure usability.

  • Proficiency in version control systems like Git.
