Credit is a key pillar of OMERS investment strategy, providing a solid and reliable income stream to overall returns. The Global Credit team brings together a team of credit investment specialists across industry sectors, geographies, and parts of the capital structure, with the goal of selecting strong risk-return investment opportunities across public and private credit markets.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Capital Securities, this position offers an opportunity to be part of a small but impactful team investing in securities with credit and structural complexity. Key responsibilities are centered around fundamental investment research, security analysis, and post-investment asset management with a focus on high quality income generation. The applicant should be intellectually curious, and have experience in analyzing, modelling, and evaluating credit risk and structures, particularly in the financial sector.

As a member of the OMERS Capital Markets team, you will:

  • Be part of the OMERS Capital Markets investment process focused on long term investment results

  • Guide issuer and security selection and influence portfolio construction. Present and defend investment recommendations

  • Monitor and review positions in portfolio

  • Develop and maintain company, sector, and relative value models

  • Participate in, contribute to and encourage healthy and robust investment dialogue across all capital markets investments

  • Collaborate with OMERS investment teams and offices globally and help institutionalize knowledge

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience in capital markets

  • University degree in a related or applicable field such as finance, economics, business, etc. CFA preferable

  • Strong credit skills and an ability to assess capital structures

  • Strong understanding of credit structures, regulation, financial industry analysis, liquidity, market structure.

  • Demonstrated strength in security selection or credit investing

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modelling, with expertise in Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to articulate clear, logical, convincing arguments and explain complex ideas simply

  • Evidence of high performing contributor, strong curiosity and self-motivation

  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player

  • Impeccable integrity
