The opportunity

Exciting opportunity to join our Capital Markets Risk team as an Associate! The Capital Markets Risk (CMR) team is tasked with managing market risk for various investment teams within our Capital Markets department. These teams cover asset classes such as Fixed Income, Currency, Commodities, Public Equities, Alternative Investments, and Insurance-linked Securities. The CMR team utilizes various risk-related analytics and analyses to fulfill this responsibility. Additionally, the team is responsible for providing market risk modeling solutions and enhancements within the enterprise risk system to meet the evolving needs of our investment teams.

The Associate's primary responsibilities include the ongoing development, enhancement, and daily operation of the CORE platform, which stands for Centralized OneRisk Extension. This platform is a key infrastructure that enables the team to provide analytical services to the department and support daily operations for our Credit and Counterparty Risk team. Furthermore, the Associate will assist the detailed design, implementation, and enhancement of our AI initiatives and oversee the model back-testing activities.

Who you'll work with

The Associate will report to the Director - Risk and will interact with all teams within Capital Markets, Risk, Data & Analytics, and Risk Analytics.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with the team on research initiatives and conduct analysis to support risk modeling.

  • Maintain and improve daily operational processes for the team's analytical platform.

  • Implement enhancements and new applications to cater to on-demand requests from the Investment team.

  • Assist in preparing risk reports and presentations for senior leaders on risk modeling and monitoring.

  • Maintain and expand business intelligence tools to meet business needs

  • Advise and implement enhancements for the CORE platform.

  • Detect and escalate relevant modeling and reporting issues to decision-makers at OTPP.

  • Provide full support and backup to senior team members for analytical system and AI-related matters.

  • Train junior team members within CMR.

  • Participate in managing internal and external relationships, primarily with Capital Markets, TFM,

    and IT.

What you'll need

  • 2+ years of work experience in finance and/or market risk management, ideally in a software development role within the financial sector, with a solid understanding and experience in AI/ML.

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering) with a solid understanding of market risk modeling/pricing methodology

  • Professional software development experience with exceptional programming skills in C/C++/C# is essential. Proficiency in relational databases, OLAP cubes, and data visualization tools is a strong plus.

  • Experienced in financial risk application development, preferably market risk related applications

  • Solid knowledge in market risk modeling or pricing for 1 or more asset classes in capital markets.

  • Solid knowledge in AI/ML and its application in financial industry

  • Successful completion of, or willingness to complete, the FRM/PRM and/or CFA designation is an asset

  • Knowledge of and deep interest in capital markets with a good understanding of capital markets dynamics.

  • Strong conceptual thinker and problem solver, with the ability to research and test new ideas/concepts to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated presentation skills. Able to clearly communicate complex subject matter to non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and work in a high-performing culture, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently as well as perform effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable with excellent attention to detail.
