The Opportunity
The Manager, Global Trade Management is responsible for leading a high-performing team overseeing end-to-end global trade operations and middle office support for public market investment activities across cash securities and derivatives. This role requires a strong people leader with deep capital markets expertise, strong internal and external stakeholder management capabilities, and the ability to drive change through to execution and measurable outcomes. The role is deeply embedded in the investment lifecycle and plays a critical role in building deep, collaborative relationships with trading desk, treasury desk and investment teams, ensuring GTM delivers operational excellence that enables effective investment decision‑making and execution at scale. The Manager also leads and contributes to large-scale, cross-divisional initiatives and projects that impact multiple Finance teams and other divisions across OTPP, as required.
Who you’ll work with
The Manager leads a team of professionals under the Global Markets & Data Operations team, within the Finance Operations department and the broader Finance Division. Finance Operations is comprised of Public Securities Operations, Private Asset Operations and Global Markets & Data Operations.
What you’ll do
Lead and oversee post- execution end-to-end global trade operations for public market investment activities, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, lifecycle processing, and control oversight across cash securities and derivatives products.
Oversee and evolve a best‑in‑class middle‑office function that acts as an extension of the trading desks, working in close partnership with global trading and investment teams to deliver high‑quality trade support, proactive issue resolution, and analytical insight, while maintaining a disciplined control environment supporting the fund’s trading and investment decisions.
Build, maintain, and strengthen key internal and external relationships with OTPP Investment teams, prime brokers, custodians, external brokers/vendors, clearing and executing brokers. Establish service expectations, monitor effectiveness through KPIs and metrics, and drive timely resolution of issues.
Own operational governance, oversight, and risk mitigation within assigned Global Trade Management areas. Review critical processes and risks end-to-end, reinforce adherence to controls and escalation protocols, and implement enhancements to improve operational resilience and stability.
Act as a operational risk owner and hold accountability for daily operational execution within assigned Global Trade Management areas, ensuring timely, accurate, and controlled transaction processing. Provide oversight and sign‑off on critical transactions and controls, lead resolution of complex or material issues, and ensure appropriate escalation to senior management where required.
Lead the onboarding of new products, new features of existing products, and new markets in support of investment strategies. Drive and oversee cross-functional onboarding assessment and implementation across internal and external stakeholders, assess operational readiness, and drive improvements to enhance the onboarding experience and accelerate investment activity.
Provide senior operational leadership over complex and non‑standard transactions, applying deep knowledge of operational, settlement, and market requirements, and deliver clear judgment on the operational implications of new and evolving investment strategies
Initiate, lead, and manage continuous improvement efforts to enhance internal processes, controls, scalability, and efficiency. Proactively identify opportunities for operational, process, technology, and data enhancements and drive initiatives from assessment through implementation and outcome measurement.
Lead, coach, develop, and retain a high‑performing team, setting clear expectations, reinforcing accountability, and driving strong performance and development outcomes. Own team talent management, including recruitment, onboarding, capability building, cross‑training, and succession planning, while fostering a resilient, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
Support the execution of key projects and strategic initiatives by researching requirements, analyzing alternatives, assessing impacts to operational risk and processes, and recommending practical courses of action.
Own the integrity of operational and financial data, controls, and reporting with assigned Global Trade Management areas, leveraging metrics and analysis to manage risk, monitor performance, and drive continuous operational improvement.
Lead the identification and dissemination of evolving market and regulatory requirements, ensuring the team remains informed, proactive, and operationally‑ready. Ensure the development and maintenance of an effective knowledge base for information sharing, onboarding, and reporting.
Accountable for end‑to‑end operational outcomes within assigned Global Trade Management areas, including execution quality, control effectiveness, issue resolution, and risk escalation.
Exercise delegated authority and ownership over prioritization, commitments, and delivery against timelines.
Balance service excellence, operational governance, and change execution while maintaining stability and risk discipline.
Lead and own people and culture outcomes, including talent development, succession depth, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The Manager holds accountability as the operational decision‑maker within Global Trade Management, exercising judgment across both routine and complex operational issues. The role requires determining when escalation is appropriate and providing clear, decision‑ready analysis and recommendations to support timely leadership decisions.
What you’ll need
Relevant university degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
Professional designation CPA CA, CGA, CMA or CFA
Strong knowledge of global capital markets and the operational trade lifecycle across cash securities and derivatives products.
Strong understanding of investment operations, middle office functions, trade support, settlement processes, and control frameworks.
Knowledge of onboarding new products, markets, and investment strategies, including assessing operational readiness and stakeholder impacts.
Strong understanding of operational risk management, process controls, escalation practices, and governance expectations in an investment operations environment.
Strong technical literacy, including the ability to work with operational systems, workflow tools, and data to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen controls.
Experience or familiarity with data analytics, process automation, and AI-enabled tools is an asset, particularly where applied within established governance and risk frameworks.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external counterparties.
Demonstrated strength in managing external counterparty and vendor relationships, including service oversight, issue resolution, performance management, and partnership-oriented engagement within a controlled governance framework.
Ability to balance governance and service in supporting investment teams and broader organizational objectives
Significant experience in investment operations and/or capital markets, typically 6 -8 years, including experience supporting publicly traded assets across cash and derivatives products.
Demonstrated people leadership experience, typically 2+ years leading, coaching, and developing teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
Proven track record of managing complex operational issues and delivering high-quality outcomes in a controlled and time-sensitive environment.
Extensive experience facilitating, coordinating, and leading process improvements or operational change initiatives, with evidence of driving implementation and measurable results.
Experience working with senior management and a broad set of internal and external stakeholders in complex organizational structures.
Experience with systems enhancements, operational change, data-driven process improvement, or workflow modernization is strongly preferred
What we’re offering

Pay-for-performance with base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance.

The Base Salary range for this level is as follows:
$105,000 - $155,000.
