What is the opportunity?
As the Senior Manager, Business Analysis you will lead a team of Business Analysts and demonstrate advanced knowledge and ability in Business Analysis. You will manage resource allocation and provide oversight across all projects within the group. Use your leadership skills to build the capabilities of the Business Analysis team by identifying, recruiting, and retaining talent, and by mentoring and coaching Business Analysts across technical and professional capabilities.
What will you do?
- Partner with the Portfolio Management to understand business strategies and support resource planning activities and participate in requirements effort estimation at the portfolio level.
- Forecast BA resource needs for the portfolio, manage BA resource allocation and govern the adherence of the BA team to the enterprise standard requirements methodology in requirements planning, analysis and documentation, requirements management and support.
- Ensure quality of the requirement deliverables and requirements estimates produced by the team and resolve requirements conflicts and issues between projects as escalated by the team.
- Apply process-driven recruitment practices to facilitate BA team staffing selection including identifying position requirements and conducting interviews and collaborate with Portfolio and Project Management to ensure effective delivery of the overall portfolio needs through allocation of BA resources.
- Manage assignments of the BA team with the goal to optimize skill and capabilities fit and advocate the value of Business Analysis to Business and Technology stakeholders, and build a shared understanding of the BA role in the organization.
- Facilitate conflict resolution by clarifying BA role and responsibilities on projects and programs and establish an effective peer coaching structure within the team to help grow more junior BAs and encourage BAs to find their niche.
- Support cross-training of team through changing assignments on different lines of business to enable knowledge building and keep senior staff motivated and junior BAs always learning and provide guidance, feedback, coaching, and mentoring to build the capabilities of BA team.
- Ensure that BAs are supported and coached when taking on assignments in new line of business, new level of project complexity, new project delivery methodology, BAs joining the team, and transition plans are in place for swapping resources in in-flight projects.
Must-have
- Relevant college/university degree and/or post-graduate degree in Business Analysis with 7+ years’ of experience working as a Business Analyst with progressively increasing leadership responsibilities.
- Experience providing coaching and support to Business Analysts in the areas of requirements planning, analysis use case development and documentation.
- Proven experience working as a BA, in various delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, Iterative, and/or Agile.
- Advanced knowledge and proven experience in requirements planning and prioritization including stakeholder analysis and effort estimation and proven experience with requirements elicitation techniques.
- Advanced knowledge and proven experience in requirements analysis and documentation.
Nice-to-have
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Project Management Institute – Professional in Business Analysis (PMI – PBA) Certification.
- Masters Certificate in Business Analysis.
- People Management experience, mid-large teams of both full time and contractors.
