What is the opportunity?
The Managing Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing Directors, Vice Presidents and Associates and will provide guidance and support for coaching, training continuing development, challenges and escalations. You will be accountable for successful achievement of goals and objectives, including driving a high level of performance, a superior client experience through identifying/presenting client solutions, and sustainable value creation for RBC shareholders.
What will you do?
Lead a team to:
Develop a strategic understanding of company’s business model, market position and growth/divestiture plans. Understand risks and opportunities that will impact business performance
Develop a mutual understanding of client needs for creation, protection and realization of shareholder value. Be viewed as a trusted financial advisor.
Develop and maintain a client opportunity pipeline and originate new clients for CCG
Work closely with Corporate Client Group Finance (CCGF) to ensure delivery of highly customized credit solutions with the proper risk oversight. Work closely and collaboratively with your Specialized Finance, Treasury Cash Management, and Capital Markets team members and partners to ensure delivery of optimal client solutions and experiences
Ensure appropriate senior coverage with Regional Head, CCG
Create and deliver a superior/full customer experience to each client through careful pre-call research and planning, a ‘consulting’ approach, and regular client relationship reviews. Relationship reviews to be conducted at least annually for each client including a meeting with Ownership/Senior Executive and incorporating a detailed relationship summary
Maintains and builds client network and COIs
Monitors market / industry news and trends
Monitor progress against client strategies regularly with partners and clients, evaluating success against revenue targets, and taking action as required
Complete weekly/monthly sales and market reports
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Degree in Business, Economics or Finance
10+ years’ experience in Corporate Banking, Commercial Lending and/or Corporate Finance /Advisory including experience in a relationship management role with demonstrated success managing complex, long sales cycles and cross-selling banking, risk management, and corporate financing products/services
Strong interpersonal, analytical and technical skills
Excellent ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Previous direct leadership experience and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with a marketing/business development orientation
Ability to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working with multiple people/groups
Commitment to task and attention to detail
Nice to have:
MBA, CPA or CFA
Demonstrated experience working with Industrial, Consumer and/or public organizations
An established/pre-existing corporate client network and contacts
