What is the opportunity?

As the most senior member of the Global Refresh team based in Halifax you will lead a matrix team of refresh, outreach and QC analysts as well as direct reports. In addition to people management responsibilities, this will include recurring and ad hoc reporting as required. This role will report into the Global Refresh Management team in Toronto.

What will you do?

  • Support the Toronto based KYC Refresh Manager to manage the Global KYC Refresh process for Capital Markets, in line with global and regional regulatory requirements and processes.
  • Lead a team of KYC refresh analysts to deliver the completion of Global KYC Refresh cases effectively and pivot to client outreach as needed, ensuring high standards of quality and customer service.
  • Monitor quality and throughput of work being completed by analysts, and identify issues including non-compliance issues, and deviation from procedures.
  • Reporting responsibilities could include Financial Crimes escalation weekly summary, Corporate Action case volumes and progress, and daily control reporting.
  • Motivate and support the Halifax team in day to day refresh related work. This includes hosting regular Halifax team meetings, promote belonging, communication and collaboration within the Halifax team.
  • Collaborate on an ongoing basis with counterparts within the Refresh leadership team, and key partners in Data Analytics, Client Onboarding and Financial Crimes – ensuring process and deliverables are compliant and completed effectively.


What do you need to succeed?

Must haves

  • Minimum 3-5 years of KYC/AML Capital Markets experience with a financial institution.
  • Client onboarding or KYC refresh experience People management experience minimum 3 years
  • Ability to learn new processes and adapt quickly
  • BA/BS or equivalent
  • Experience working within a high paced environment with competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, ability to manipulate data (extract, analyze) and understand output

Nice to haves

  • In-depth knowledge of global Regulatory requirements (IIROC, FINTRAC, FINRA, FCA, OFSI, IRS, etc.) and/or experience working with regulatory or rule-based environments.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation
  • Advanced knowledge of CDR, Fenergo, trading and settlement applications
