What is the opportunity?

As a Technical Systems Specialist, you will manage a team of 3 resources, will oversee all lifecycle phases and be responsible for the overall management of the Microsoft Office suite used by every employee and contractor globally as well as Office Online services, Microsoft OneDrive and other Microsoft tools and services.

What will you do?

  • Manage a team of three employees to help you achieve your responsibilities and deliverables.

  • Security and standard patch management, version management of the core Office components (Excel, Word, Outlook. Power Point, OneNote) and all versions and flavors used by RBC and subsidiaries.

  • Line of business customizations, line of business technical and business engagements and solutioning.

  • Management of OneDrive including deployment across the Enterprise and management and oversight in general post deployment.

  • Management of Office Online including deployment across the Enterprise and management and oversight in general (including MS Planner, Sway, Forms, Clipchamp, etc)

  • Manage all related findings, risk assessments, privacy assessments, data assessments, supplier risk reviews and the like associated with Office, OneDrive and Office Online

  • Working potentially with Generative AI Microsoft components and their pilot and implementation into RBC.

  • Ensuring user and data safety and soundness and alignment to RBC standards is imperative.

  • Technology currency will be a key theme in this role as you manage multiple new applications, services and technologies both during deployment and following deployments.

  • New web-based Office Online services will need to be deployed to the enterprise and supported by your team.

  • Transition from Individual drives (i.e. Y drives) to OneDrive and the standard enterprise support for all global RBC users is a key component of this role.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Strong experience on MS Office, MS 365 and MS OneDrive.

  • Communication skills are imperative as you will need to convey technical issues, solutions and resolutions to an executive and business audience in oral, written and online meeting formats as well as in presentations and spoken sessions.

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving will be a key part of this role as we are continuously asked to come up with solutions required by RBC businesses (including regulatory items, compliance, privacy, RBC standard adherence, etc) working with our application and service vendors and 3rd parties.

  • Experience managing people.

  • Ability to work across a diverse set of technologists and analysts from solutions architecture, engineering, cyber security, privacy, compliance, supplier management, procurement, multiple levels of support teams, and business clients is a key component of this position.

  • Experience managing large scale services and systems from introduction to deployment to post-deployment support is important.

  • Experiencing managing projects – including all project phases.
