What is the opportunity?
RBC Regional Banking Support’s Commercial Reporting is hiring a Manager, Business Intelligence & Information Management role that will support strategic reporting and visual insights for Regional Banking’s Commercial by successfully transforming data into useful, relevant information, and by leveraging sound business knowledge, additional sources of information, and resources to deliver insight to the Commercial field. The position plays a role in driving strategic, timely, and accurate insights to business partners and senior leaders in a Commercial banking environment, alongside key technology partners.
What will you do?
- Utilize cutting edge business intelligence capabilities to optimize business results, define, measure, and deliver insights and mitigate risk.
- Design and develop/enhance innovative reporting solutions to monitor performance management, present key analytical and business insights to underlying drivers in support of the Commercial advisors and leaders on client and coaching insights to drive an exceptional client experience.
- Take end to end responsibility in the development and enhancement of performance metrics and reporting in Tableau.
- Respond to ad-hoc investigations, inquiries, data, and report requests as assigned.
- Run production jobs as assigned.
- Demonstrate Subject Matter Expertise in data and reporting infrastructure design, configuration and optimization, providing recommendations on approach and execution.
- Apply standard design principles and data visualization techniques to measure key indicators, disclose trends, provide proactive actionable insights/indicators and address business questions.
- Identify appropriate data sources and perform Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) for data modelling, data quality assessments, understand patterns and provide the basis to inform the reporting solution which provides meaningful performance management insights.
- Participate in conversations with internal partners to understand their business strategies (role design, incentive, practice management and portfolio quality) and objectives in order to define/recommend reporting solutions to meet those objectives, effectively communicate project status and develop relationships to ensure satisfaction.
- Participate in design and solution review demonstrations with the Senior Manager and/or internal partners at critical tollgates to ensure adherence to requirements, resolve obstacles, while mitigating deployment risk and the need for post-deployment modifications.
- Test and validate (QA) new and existing reports and analytics for adherence to business and technical requirements.
- Enhance and optimize existing production processes.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation related to reporting solutions, including specifications, data lineage, technical and business definitions for metrics, and test plan/test cases.
- Be a thought partner within the Commercial Reporting team, supporting the developments of insights, processes, data approaches/ methodologies and information that is valued by partners across Regional Banking and Commercial.
- Learn on a consistent basis, be adaptable to change due to re-prioritizing of items.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, related field or equivalent related experience.
- Demonstrated ETL and big data modeling capabilities, with programming experience in large databases/datasets and using SAS, SQL Server and Teradata SQL Assistant.
- Experience in statistical methods, strong data profiling, cleaning, and mining.
- Proficient in SQL extracts to investigate data from data warehouse and other sources (flat files) for investigation/analysis purposes.
- Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to senior leaders to inform of strategic decisions.
- Proven quantitative analytical (including data knowledge, data discovery, data aggregation and summarization) and problem-solving skills.
- UNIX knowledge (i.e. submit process, create logs, store data).
- Advanced in developing reports using Tableau.
- Data knowledge on RBC’s EDW.
- Be skilled in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Expert technical documentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Nice-to-have
- Financial Services Industry/Business Financial Services knowledge
- Experience in developing performance metrics/reports
- Programming/coding skills in Python and Hadoop (HIVE) and Datameer
- Experience with Tableau Security, Tableau Server Administration
