What is the opportunity?

RBC, one of Canada’s largest and most respected employers, is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our HR Data Sciences Team.

You will be a critical member of the HR Data Sciences team who will specialize in designing, building, testing, and deploying machine learning models to solve business problems. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of an ML project, from data preparation to model implementation and monitoring. This includes choosing appropriate algorithms, training models, evaluating performance, and integrating them into production systems.

We are looking for a multi-talented subject matter expert, who is familiar with RBC’s data and ML infrastructure. You can embrace varied and ambiguous ML challenges while also being able to translate your work for a non-technical audience.

What will you do?

  • Design and develop ML systems: Choose the right algorithms, designing data pipelines, and building scalable models.

  • Data preparation and feature engineering: Gather, clean, and transform data into a usable format for training models.

  • Model training and evaluation: Train models on the prepared data, evaluating their performance using metrics, and fine-tuning them to achieve optimal results.

  • Model deployment and monitoring: Deploy models into production on-prem or on RBC cloud infrastructure, ensuring their reliability and performance, and monitoring their performance over time.

  • Collaboration: Work with data scientists, software engineers, and domain/business experts to develop and implement ML solutions.

  • Continuous learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and techniques

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Physics or related STEM field.

  • At least 3 years of work experience in a similar role

  • 1-2 years of work experience with MLOps

  • Advanced skills in Python and SQL

  • Previous experience deploying models on RBC infrastructure

  • Strong management and organizational skills.

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with platforms such as AWS Sagemaker, Dataiku etc.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure

  • Some experience with Deep Learning and NLP

  • Understanding of Generative AI and LLMs.
