What is the opportunity?
As a Senior Manager, Commercial Lending - Credit Risk & Profitability Monitoring, you play a key role in the monitoring Credit Risk for the Commercial Banking portfolio and play a key part to implement initiatives to improve the profitability of the portfolio.
Commercial Banking offers a wide range of lending, deposit and transaction banking products and services to Canadian companies and foreign businesses in Canada. Our team of relationship managers and specialists serves the full lifecycle of commercial clients, from entrepreneurs and mid-market enterprises to the largest Canadian privately owned companies, public corporations and Canadian subsidiaries of global multinationals.
What will you do?
- Support Relationship Managers to estimate transaction and relationship profitability
- Review the profitability of the loan portfolio and explain variances to senior management
- Provide coaching to improve profitability for selected transactions
- Enhance portfolio analytic capabilities while reducing the amount of processing time by automating reports across several key parameters, including industry, geography, credit exceptions and credit quality
- Support watch list and triage process by liaising with deal teams across the country and work closely with key partners (including Corporate Client Group (“CCG”), Credit Management, Asset Based Lending and Group Risk Management (“GRM”)) to deliver a comprehensive document for watch list and triage meetings
- Identification of deteriorating credit trends and escalate the information to senior management
- Co-ordinate special industry reviews with CCG and GRM and prepare peer comparisons for selected industries within CCG
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance
- Positive “can do” attitude, pro-active approach to problem solving, an open mind and an interest in understanding new processes and concepts
- Reporting and analysis experience
- Data management and presentation skills, including a proficiency with MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint, as well as ability using external data sources such as CapIQ
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of credit products, principles and financial analysis
- Strong attention to details
Nice-to-have
- Graduate degree or professional designations (MBA, CPA, FRM or CFA)
- Work experience in corporate finance, commercial lending or corporate lending
- Experience in project management and change implementation
- Knowledge of RBC’s policies, procedures and systems
