Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

  • The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) is a centralized first line of defense group with the goal of embedding a culture of risk ownership and operational excellence by elevating the control environment and driving consistency and quality of risk practices to minimize loss and regulatory sanction, drive cost efficiencies, and accelerate execution to enable growth.
  • The Enterprise Control Testing (ECT) team serves as RBC’s central control testing function. As the Enterprise central control testing team, ECT acts on behalf of the 1LOD (first line of defense) Control Owner and is responsible for performing control assurance activities in accordance with RBC’s Internal Controls Testing Policy and Standards (ICMP and ICMS).
  • The Senior Director, Automation, Data and Planning is accountable for ECT’s enhancement roadmap and design and implementation of data, automation and workforce management capabilities, tools and infrastructure to improve testing effectiveness and drive efficiency through productivity improvement and cost optimization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Capacity Planning: Creation of capacity planning capabilities and ongoing workload forecasting and resource management
  • Process Ownership and Optimization: Development and ownership of the control testing processes and continuous improvement through process simplification, rationalization and automation
  • Tools and Automation: Establishment of the ECT technology roadmap including implementation of standardized tools and AI strategy and use cases
  • Data and Reporting: Defining the ECT data strategy, infrastructure (e.g., data pipelines) and reporting infrastructure to support planning, forecasting, business casing and management reporting and insights.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Analytics, Software Engineering / Computer Science
  • Minimum 10 years work experience in relevant or complimentary capacities
  • Strong people management experience leading cross-functional teams and experts with an innovation and client first focus
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate risks, and design effective solutions
  • Capacity management experience, including workload planning, forecasting, resource planning / optimization and use of appropriate operational levers (e.g., onshore/offshore, surge capacity)
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing process improvement initiatives in a complex, regulated environment (financial services preferred)
  • Proven expertise in leading the design, development and implementation of technology solutions (e.g., workflow, RPA and AI / ML solutions)
  • Experience leading in a matrixed environment, working with a diverse group of executive stakeholders; strong communication and presentation skills

Nice-to-have:

  • MBA, Master of Analytics, Software Engineering / Computer Science
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification or equivalent experience in process simplification and improvement
  • Understanding of 3LOD and supporting Platform Operational Risk teams
  • Deep knowledge on data analytics methodologies, including AI capabilities
