Job Description

What is your opportunity?

You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Commercial Banking reporting frameworks including ownership of Transparent Product Reporting database. You will also represent the Commercial Banking Finance team in change programs as Finance data SME and lead data impact assessments for such initiatives including coordination with other CFO groups such as Corporate Treasury, Product Control, Financial Control and FRO to ensure all impacts to financial reporting are captured.

What will you do?

Transparent Product Reporting (TPR) Ownership

  • Establish monthly reconciliation process between TPR and EPM and business rules maintenance routines to ensure integrity of data for reporting purposes

  • Collaborate with Finance colleagues to develop industry level reporting and other reporting to enhance analytics capabilities using TPR data

Business Analysis

  • Work closely with subject matter experts to document detailed business requirement, and ensures requirements are in line with business goals and objectives inclusive of both Finance and business driven projects

  • Translate business requirements and document technical specifications and data lineage where appropriate

  • Analyse large data sets and system extracts to build business rules behind automated data pipelines

  • Using SQL to understand data sets about different systems and extract data

  • Identify, analyze implications and communicate program issues, risks and dependencies, so that they can be appropriately mitigated

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Commercial Banking Finance and business to develop and manage relationship with relevant stakeholders

Automation

  • Design, develop and test report automation and reconciliation processes in collaboration with IT and Reporting Shared Services ensuring adherence to control standards (e.g. SOX controls)

  • Develop and execute tests, log and track issues and drive them to resolution with verification of bug fixes, document test results and research findings

  • Develop scripts as needed to assist in the systems validation process

  • Coordinate with front-end developers and data engineers

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years of relevant finance and industry experience

  • Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and related technologies.

  • Superior financial modeling skills (ie. strong Excel modeling skills) and technical skills (ie. Tableau database management)

  • Excellent analytical skills & critical thinking skills to investigate system and business issues, determine root cause, and deliver sustainable solutions.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement; specifically, ability to identify existing processes and gaps across the current system landscape.

  • Exceptional time management and project prioritization skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to influence.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with RBC specific instances of technologies and data sources such as EPM, SAP, GL, CCVM, and EDW
