What is the opportunity for?

The RBC BFST team offers the opportunity to leverage our epiX mega-journey transformation program to develop innovative solutions to our most challenging problems for RBC’s commercial banking customers. We hire people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to take on tough challenges and make an impact to millions of Canadians and businesses every day.

The QE Lead ensures design, development and test management and he/she is actively a part of the delivery quality on strategic, regulatory, mandatory or client projects. He/she follows Quality Engineering methodology to contribute to the successful completion of projects on time and within budget and drive quality and champion defect prevention/early defect detection. He/she works collaboratively with several IT and Business teams to estimate, prepare, plan and coordinate all test phases in order to meet the project milestones.

Liaising with the other development team members, he/she participates to work and embrace engineering principles, identify and use modern testing tools, optimize testing preparation and execution through test technics and automation script support. He/she defines and secure test environments.

What will you do?

  • Work closely with development teams and assist in design, develop and testing

  • Manage the defined QE processes to ensure all standards and compliances are met

  • Lead all QE activities and report on progress, including: creating/reviewing test automation repos, artifacts

  • Drive the development of optimized test automation and support continuous integration

  • Determine the schedule and sequence of testing activities, negotiate and coordinate with interfacing applications regarding timelines and commitment

  • Strong communicator – able to work closely with counterparts in a cross-functional teams. Ability to lead and mentor QA team member

  • Oversee test execution progress, communicate daily metrics report and weekly dashboard to the stakeholders

  • Provide functional work flows, test data, and support to Performance testing

  • Conduct risk analysis, requirement review ensuring sufficient coverage in respect of project constraints and driving factors.

  • Continually ensure there is an adequate level of QE automation test coverage for all responsible applications

  • Facilitate complex group meetings and conducts information gathering sessions with groups across IT as well as offshore team

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Hands on expertise in a variety of test automation frameworks/tools - Robot Framework, Playwrite, Cypress, Selenium, Rest Assure, GitHub Actions), and script development using scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).

  • Hands-on programming experience (e.g., Java, C, SQL DB querying) and source configuration tools (GIT, SVN, MKS, etc.) Capable to debug code independently and peer code-review.

  • Hands on experience in test case design at different levels (component/service, integration, and end to end/user scenarios). Experience in a QE/test environment with a focus on technical, automated testing in a variety of environments (distributed, cloud and mainframe, business workflows and services/APIs, databases

  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of testing techniques and methodologies – Ability to recommend and demonstrate new tools having engineering mindset and aptitude for continuous learning. Through knowledge on DevOps pipeline and integration of testing in the pipeline.

  • Experience working with software delivery methodologies, frameworks and best practices having worked in Agile teams. Should have very good communication skills, right attitude, and team player.

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the usage of GenAI tools like GitHub copilot or similar.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in development/coding with Ruby, Groovy, Spring boot, Cypress

  • Code inspection tool knowledge/working experience with SonarQube

  • Experience with Containerizations tools like OpenShift, Dockers, Kubernetes, AWS ECS

  • Experience using test optimization and performance monitoring tools – ConfirmIQ, Dynatrace
