What is the opportunity?

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

What will you do?

• Lead a team of 5+ analysts, consultants and developers

• Provide to the team technical leadership act as an engineering conduit

• Own the delivery roadmap for data initiatives

• Manage technical and PO stakeholder relationships

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.

• 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management role.

• Strong expertise in SQL, data modeling, and database design (relational and NoSQL).

• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka), ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline orchestration (e.g., Airflow, dbt)

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

• Experience implementing data governance, data quality, and data privacy frameworks.

• Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.

Nice-to-have

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

• Basic financial experience
