Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

Various initiatives around concentration risk allow RBC to measure exposures to particular groups and entities. We are building a web based reporting application for both regulatory and internal credit reporting. This role will act as key member of team in building and maintain a cohesive unit across technology and business with a culture to meet and exceed expectations. Team for these projects primarily based in Toronto, with business relationships in both Toronto and New York.

What will you do?

Technical Analysis, Design and Consulting

• Responsible for solution design and architecture for credit risk reporting application.

• Responsible for Database Designing and providing DBA instructions with Database ER artefacts.

• Agile projects experience will be an asset.

• Partners with infrastructure and business teams in order to design solutions and resolve business system issues (i.e. workflow solutions, batch cycle troubleshooting, technical interface issues, software issues, etc.).

• Works closely with members of the development and QA teams to review requirements and implement solutions.

• Participates in meetings, provide input to presentations, and provides consulting services to business partners and BAs.

• Participates in walkthrough reviews of specifications and technical designs.

Coding, Testing & Documentation

• Developing micro-services, spark/hive data pull jobs, middle layer restful services.

• Conduct code reviews.

• Responsible for producing architecture artefacts for small to mid-sized applications.

• Coordinate and provide input to DBA in building database structures and tables.

• Contribute to unit test plans and provides coordination and support of testing

Planning, Implementation & Support Process Knowledge

• Strong analytical and technical skill set, including the ability to transform business logic into technical design.

• Working in Agile or iterative development methodology environment.

• Communication Skills

  • Conflicts and issues resolution and escalation

  • Strong documentation skills

Communication

• Effectively communicates with project team members, stakeholders and other IT teams such as application development, middleware and infrastructure teams.

• Participates in small to large group meetings for technical design, decision-making, problem solving and task implementation.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• 6+ years of experience with Programming and Scripting languages such as Java, Python, Shell Script etc.

• 6+ years of experience with SQLs and RDBMs like Sybase , MSSQL etc.

• Excellent proficiency in development practices: unit testing, CI, refactoring, clean code and technical documentation.

• Knowledge in all stages of software development

• Knowledge about DevOps (GitHub, Jenkins, Urban codes etc.), application monitoring tools (Dynatrace) and related tools.

• Public and Private cloud knowledge, skills, and experiences (Azure, AWS, GCP, OpenShift, Dockers, Kubernetes) is preferred.

• Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills.

Nice-to-have

• Understanding of IT Standards, Methodologies, CMM & audit requirements

• Agile experiences.

• Financial institution knowledge
