Job Description

What is the opportunity?

A Chairman’s Council Family Enterprise Advisory team within RBC Dominion Securities is seeking a senior, experienced leader to join the practice as a Business Development Lead.

This role is part of a small, focused advisory team and is not an institutional or head-office role. It is intended for an established professional with strong leadership judgment, execution capability, and experience operating in complex financial or professional services environments, who is seeking to apply those skills in a more entrepreneurial, purpose-driven advisory setting—while benefiting from the scale, brand, and resources of RBC Dominion Securities.

The role partners closely with the Family Enterprise Advisor to strengthen and professionalize the operational, executional, and leadership foundation of a practice evolving toward a family office–style advisory model. The focus is on helping families achieve clarity of purpose, alignment across financial and non-financial priorities, and sustained progress across generations. As the practice matures over the next 12–18 months, this role is expected to evolve and may expand to include deeper involvement in areas such as strategic planning, investment coordination, relationship leadership, or broader advisory platform development, based on business needs and individual strengths.

What will you do?

  • Translate vision, ideas, and strategic priorities into structured plans and drive them to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives that support practice growth, operational excellence, and enhanced client outcomes.
  • Take ownership of initiatives that reduce executional burden across the team and enable each area of expertise to operate more effectively.
  • Design, refine, and maintain operational workflows, systems, and governance.
  • Establish consistency, discipline, and scalability across how the practice operates and delivers value.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality as the practice evolves.
  • Act as a leader and coach within the team, fostering higher standards of execution, productivity, and collaboration.
  • Help reinforce the team’s vision, culture, and ways of working through credibility, trust, and example rather than hierarchy.
  • Enhance the end-to-end client journey through thoughtful design and operational excellence.
  • Help articulate, refine, and evolve the practice’s story, positioning, and value proposition for families, internal partners, and Centres of Influence.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration with internal RBC partners, external professional advisors, and client families.
  • Act as a connector across disciplines, supporting alignment and clarity across complex advisory relationships.
  • Champion the thoughtful adoption of AI and other technologies to drive efficiency, insight, and innovation.
  • Bring curiosity, judgment, and a continuous-improvement mindset to how tools and systems are applied.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership and project management experience in financial services or professional services.
  • Relevant backgrounds may include:
    • Senior roles in commercial banking or private banking
    • Wealth management or advisory leadership roles
    • Senior manager or leadership roles within accounting or professional services firms
  • Experience in or exposure to family office or family-enterprise advisory environments is strongly valued.
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives independently and drive execution end-to-end.
  • Strong operational, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and accountability.
  • Agile, adaptable, and comfortable operating in evolving environments.

Nice-to-have

  • Direct experience working in or alongside a family office model.
  • Experience supporting complex or ultra-high-net-worth families.
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, MBA, or similar.
  • Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI and technology to improve outcomes.

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program which include competitive compensation and flexible benefits
  • A senior leadership role within a small, agile advisory team backed by the strength and credibility of RBC Dominion Securities.
  • Direct access to decision-making and the ability to see ideas move quickly from concept to execution.
  • Purpose-driven work helping families navigate complexity and build enduring legacies.
  • A role designed to grow and evolve alongside the practice.

The expected salary range for the above position is $150,000 - 250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.

This position may be eligible to receive a discretionary/variable incentive payment.
