What is the opportunity?
Reporting to the Assistant Manager Trade Settlements, the primary objectives of this position are to:
- Process payments and settle transactions under Letters of Credit in strict compliance with ICC, UCP and URR rules
- Deliver high quality service to clients across Canada with particular focus on accuracy and timeliness in the settlement of Trade transactions
- Provide support to clients, non-clients, correspondent banks and RBC personnel as it relates to Trade transactions
What will you do?
Perform Settlement function with a high degree of accuracy and within Service Delivery Standards; meet established average productivity benchmarks.

Ensure proper fees and commissions are collected, out-of-pocket expenses recovered and risk approval obtained as required.
Contributes to the overall success of the team by actively working together, sharing new ideas and best practices.
Exercises due diligence in following operational risk policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
Identifies and recommends service improvements/enhancements to manager.
Takes personal accountability for high achievement; actively participates in coaching and learning opportunities to improve their individual and team contribution.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Knowledge of SWIFT payment and L/C message types (MT700, 100 and 400 series)
Understanding of International Trade and business
Good written and verbal communications skills
Working knowledge of ICC rules (UCP 600; ISP98, URDG758, ISBP)
Strong organizational & decision-making skills.
Technical aptitude and system documentation proficiency
Nice-to-have:
CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist)
Trade processing software such as Trade 360
Previous Customer Service experience
