What is the opportunity?
As Associate Director, Credit Risk & Portfolio Management, you will report to the Senior Director, Credit Risk & Portfolio Management. The Associate Director is responsible for performing analyses, identifying trends, providing insights, and making recommendations to management on topics of concern and opportunity related to consumer credit risk at RBC Bank, a U.S.-based subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada, specializing in cross-border banking for Canadians.
This role is the lead position on the Credit Access Line portfolio, a new and fast-growing securities-based lending product for the bank.
What will you do?
- Lead deep dive analytics and provide early warning indicators to facilitate recommendations for areas of concern to highlight to executives.
- Develop or enhance ongoing credit risk dashboards and routines that provide transparency on the RBC Bank retail portfolio. Examples include loss forecasting, policy exception reporting and performance tracking.
- Increase the quality and efficiency of analyses, dashboards and processes through automation, scheduling and the use of new data, tools and analytical techniques, leveraging AI as appropriate.
- Lead preparation of executive level presentations and analyses, working closely with partners in Risk Management, Finance and/or the lines of business as needed.
- Support Credit Risk & Portfolio Management initiatives, analytics, and ad hoc requests as required.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or other quantitative field of study
- 5+ years related work experience with SQL, python, SAS or equivalent programming experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven analytical skills
- Ability to be effective and equally conversant in business and technical environment
- Creative thinker to solve complex problems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong understanding of consumer behavior and credit risk
- Proven ability to connect process, policy, system, and data together and establish impact when any of the above changes
- Collaborative and supportive attitude
Nice-to-have
- Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline
- Experience in risk management and/or in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of Teradata, python, SAS and/or Tableau
- Knowledge of personal credit products
