As a Sr. Network Security Specialist, you will provide consistent levels of organizational and technical expertise necessary for the successful implementation, maintenance and support of the critical network and security infrastructure services across all global RBC Intranet (Core, LAN/WAN, Server Farm), Internet (Surfing, E-commerce), and Extranet environments. You will lead the Infrastructure Security team responsible for enterprise security appliances and technologies including Check Point, Palo Alto, Cisco IPS, Malware Prevention, and Web Application Firewalls, while driving strategic initiatives around emerging security technologies such as Secure Service Edge (SSE) and next-generation Web Application Firewalls (WAF). To provide advanced level technical support for troubleshooting, and implementing configuration changes across a variety of vendor platforms. You will be regularly working with clients, business partners, escalation teams (implementation/engineering), and vendors to resolve incidents/problems, perform root cause analysis, and deliver infrastructure changes across the global RBC Enterprise (North & South America, Caribbean, Europe, Asia-Pacific).
What will you do?
- Partner with Security Engineering and Security Solutions Architecture in transforming Network Security through the deployment of Secure Service Edge (SSE) and other transformational efforts
- Drives the strategy, development, and lifecycle of network security software or services, bridging technical security requirements with business goals and driving key roadmap initiatives
- Responsible for the day-to-day Level 3 Support for cyber and network security infrastructure (firewalls, intrusion/malware prevention, web application firewalls (WAF), cloud security) globally
- Responsible for deployment and life cycle maintenance of technologies such as Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, AlgoSec, FireEye, Cisco FirePower
- Responding to network security event and incident escalations from the first-level support Service Desk, internal/external clients and business partners
- Work closely with DevOps/Automation teams to identify opportunities for automation, provide technical requirements and validate functionality before production
- Proficiency in enterprise collaboration and workflow tools such as SharePoint, ServiceNow, Confluence, and Jira, with demonstrated experience leveraging these platforms to drive team productivity, project management, and process automation.
- Delivering high-impact presentations to key stakeholders (i.e.: executives)
- Leading medium to large initiatives related to Network Security platforms and associated key controls
- Participating in presentations with management on gap analysis, solutions, business proposals, etc.
- Leveraging instrumentation and automation tools to enhance operations
- Participate in 24 x 7 on-call rotational shifts including evenings and nights
- Participating in meetings and training sessions to review and understand new technology and service deployments
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
- 7+ years in network/security engineering or platform integration
- Strong experience with:
- Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point)
- WAF platforms (Cloudflare, F5, Akamai, Imperva)
- IPS/IDS technologies
- Secure Service Edge (SSE) / Zero Trust platforms (Zscaler, Netskope, Prisma, Broadcom)
- Cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, TLS, and modern perimeter less architectures
- Automation/scripting experience (Python, APIs, Terraform, CI/CD)
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with executives
- Created high-impact presentation decks and delivered compelling stories to key stakeholders
- Extensive experience overseeing, implementing, and enforcing an organization's cybersecurity policies, framework, and risk posture
- Strong risk management and problem-solving skills
- Certifications related to Secure Service Edge (SSE) or Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
- Certification in at least one of the firewall platforms (Palo Alto, CheckPoint, Fortinet, Cisco ASA) and expert working experience working with the following network and security appliances/vendors: Palo Alto, FireEye, Arbor, Algosec, Cisco Firepower, Cisco IOS & NX-OS based routers & switches
- Extensive experience with building and troubleshooting network security appliances
- Solid understanding and troubleshooting capability of L2/L3 protocols (ARP, HSRP, VRRP, STP, BGP, VRF, OSPF) in a Cisco environment
- Solid understanding Knowledge of security concepts such as NAT/PAT, IPSEC, SSL, DDoS, IP Spoofing etc.
- Excellent understanding of the OSI model, application protocols such as DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, Telnet, SSH, TCP/IP, including packet inspection/protocol analysis using packet analyzers for troubleshooting
Nice-to-Have:
- Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CCSP
- Understanding of Agile, Scrum, DevOps and Cloud practices
