What is the opportunity?
As part of the GRM Risk Oversight Team, you are responsible to conduct independent portfolio quality assurance reviews of Retail loans such as Home Equity Finance (HEF), Personal Lending, Automotive & Cards providing insights to stakeholders.
This review will attest to adherence to risk policies & procedures, risk appetite & prudent lending standards within the adjudication / lending process. You will identify deficiencies and areas of opportunity within adjudication / lending process and provide timely, insightful and actionable communication of findings to senior management, policy makers, business partners and other key stakeholders for them to take the appropriate actions to remediate any issues.
The intent of the review is to inform senior management & policy makers of the adherence to lending standards and illuminate findings requiring remediation.
Note: The team will be open to consider candidates from Toronto (Ontario) and Montreal (Quebec).
What will you do?
- Conduct an independent evaluation of the quality of lending decisions with a focus on identifying systemic breaches in lending standards & risk appetite.
- Provide timely, insightful & actionable findings to senior management, policy makers, business partners & other key stakeholders for them to take the appropriate actions to remediate any issues.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews on Retail products (HEF, Personal loans, and Cards) as required to help load balance volume demands.
- Identify opportunities to improve the adjudication / lending process and adherence to lending guidelines and risk appetite.
- Collaborate with the GRM Risk Oversight team and other stakeholders, providing insights related to credit quality and adherence to policy.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the portfolio quality assurance process to improve effectiveness, efficiency, controls and transparency.
- Challenge existing risk frameworks for future world & instill an innovative mindset to keep pace with internal/external change
- Stay abreast of changes in policy and procedures, business strategies, system updates and regulations impacting the adjudication / lending process of retail loans.
- Support the business as a strong second line of defense by promoting an environment of open dialogue & constructive challenge, while ensuring a collaborative approach when working with Line of Business & functional partners.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 7+ years of retail banking experience, with 3+ years of retail adjudication, quality assurance or equivalent experience
- Execute with agility & optimize productivity with a great sense of urgency
- Knowledge of Home Equity Finance (HEF), Personal Lending & Cards policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with application systems (Linx, Casper, & Origenate).
- Ability to quickly and accurately assess guideline and policy deviations of applications
Nice-to-have
- Bilingual in French is an asset
