Job Description

What is the opportunity?

In this role you will be responsible for supporting and managing events, communications and the RBC Recognition Program for Technology & Operations “T&O” and the Transformation & Chief Operating Office “TCOO”.

The Experience Manager, Technology & Operations will support and manage internal RBC events, including conferences, townhalls, meetings and employee engagement events and contests on behalf of internal partners and executives, including communication requirements. In addition, the Experience Manager, Technology & Operations will support the RBC Recognition Program through assistance in building decks, updating key tools and assets for the program, while maintaining the programs’ goal to promote reward & recognition across T&O. In this role you will apply experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices in employee engagement to perform a variety of assignments.

As the Experience Manager, Technology & Operations you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Recognition & Engagement and the Director, Performance & Events on the planning and execution of T&O wide recognition programs, engagement events, including leading event logistics and creating an exceptional attendee experience.

You will learn in an agile environment where the team’s goal is to design and deliver best in class events, engagement programs and reward and recognition that enhance the RBC brand, culture and T&O strategy.

What will you do?

  • Provide event logistics and planning support to the Senior Manager and/or Director on T&O signature events, including conferences, town halls, galas, and engagement events on behalf of internal partners and executives, working collaboratively with Event Coordinators, Event Managers, and cross-enterprise stakeholders.
  • Work in collaboration with Event Coordinators and Event Managers on end-to-end event execution, including creating critical paths, registration tools, proposals, budgets, and post-event analysis reports.
  • Coordinate supplier and vendor relationships, including negotiating contracts, coordinating video production, staging, AV, and facility logistics while managing theme design, décor, and production requirements.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Manager and/or Director to support event communications and content development, including creating/editing/distributing communications, preparing speaker briefs, employee engagement proposals, scripts, and video storyboards in collaboration with business partners.
  • Develop event-related materials and resources, including PowerPoint presentations, keynote speaker research, industry trend analysis, and promotional content.
  • Support the RBC Recognition Program by assisting with program projects, building tool kits, and promoting recognition initiatives across T&O.
  • Provide ongoing creative support to the Recognition Program Senior Manager and T&O RBC Recognition Committees to further employee engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with business partners and internal/external suppliers by demonstrating competence, creativity, professional communication and event execution.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 5-7 years of industry experience associated with large scale corporate event planning (in-person and virtual).
  • Excellent aptitude for planning, organization, prioritizing and multi-tasking to meet conflicting demands, with the ability to identify challenges and propose solutions
  • Proven relationship management and effective verbal and written communications skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to interact effectively with senior level management.
  • Flexible attitude, teamwork and cooperation skills; collaboration, relationship building skills, sound judgement, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Superb ability to collaborate and works effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Request for Proposal (RFP) procedures and Banquet Event Orders (BEO), experience working with vendors (e.g. Event locations, AV teams, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the GTA area for various event locations/sites and internationally as required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of WebEx (Meetings & Webinars) and other Video Conferencing platforms.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office Programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Undergraduate degree and/or Graduate degree (Event Management, Business Administration, Communications), preferred.
