What is the opportunity?
The Product Control Central Funding Canada Team within Enterprise Control is the front line of control and support for the related RBC Capital Market desks. As vital business partners, we ensure that all downstream processes and flows are functioning efficiently at the highest level of control possible by performing Profit & Loss (P&L) Production, P&L Decomposition and Balance Sheet Substantiation. Together we deliver elevated insights that enable RBC outperformance and our business partners to make better decisions that help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We are looking for a dedicated Manager - Product Control to join our amazing team! In this role, you will be responsible for the production and execution of all P&L, attestation and month-end activities related to assigned Central Funding businesses, analyzing Front Office performance and managing risk that impacts RBC’s financial results.
What will you do?
- Perform daily and month end reporting and reconciliation tasks, such as producing and submitting P&L and P&L decomposition, balance sheet substantiation to subledgers and systems of record, and independent price verification completeness
- Report daily and month-to-date results to CFG desks, compare P&L estimate vs Actual results, explain variances and obtain sign off.
- Provide commentary on large P&L movements to Front Office, Financial Control and Risk on a daily and monthly basis as needed. Monitor all operational and market issues impacting the related products to enhance that commentary
- Develop a good understanding of RBC repo / fixed income based products and system flows
- Build strong and meaningful relationships with team members and business partners (Front Office, Financial Control, Valuations, Risk Management, Operations and IT)
- Act as the primary point of contact for all queries and issues.
- Inform Manager of any irregularities that may present potential exposure to RBC and work closely with all members of the Product Control team, providing guidance and cross training when required
- Prioritize activities and reports, and be able to adjust as needed, so that important team goals and deadlines are met
- Drive continuous improvements to the quality of our service by identifying, recommending, testing and implementing process enhancements and assisting with the onboarding of new products, systems and process flows
- Participate with audit requests both internal and external
- Ensure all procedures are reviewed and up-to-date to enhance our ability to be the best possible business co-pilots
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in a Capital Markets environment
- Excellent Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, etc.)
- Strong oral / written communication and analytical skills
- An innovative thinker who is proactive, very well organized, detail-oriented and cares about supporting their colleagues and business partners
- Good understanding of interest-rate based financial instruments
- Sound knowledge of reconciliation and attestation processes
- High level of initiative to solve problems, curious mindset, takes ownership and integrity
- Ability to work to tight daily and monthly deadlines
- Understanding of process improvement: working to make processes more efficient and effective

Nice-to-have
- Relevant experience with Product Control functions performed at a financial institution
- Familiar with RBC fixed income based and GL related applications (ex. TOMS, Monaco, Apex, ADP, PEGA, etc.)
- Strong proficiency in VBA and experience in developing, debugging and optimizing VBA code within Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Access and Outlook
- Procedure and documentation experience
