What is the opportunity?

Cards & Loyalty (“C&L”) is seeking a strategic leader to serve as Director, Strategy, overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive strategy that shapes the future of RBC's C&L business in service of our Personal Banking Empower 2030 ambition. Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy and Business Management, you will work in close partnership with the C&L Executive Vice President (“EVP”) & Senior Management Team (“SMT”), lead a high-performing team & collaborate with colleagues across the organization.

In this role, you will be the chief architect of C&L strategy, translating business ambitions into actionable strategic plans while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on the most complex and highest-impact business challenges. You will have unique visibility across both Cards and Loyalty lines of business, positioning you to identify transformational opportunities, drive cross-platform collaboration, and accelerate new capability development anchored to a client-first approach.

The Director role offers significant scope to shape the strategic direction of two dynamic businesses, lead and develop strategic talent, and deliver measurable value to clients & the enterprise. Working within a fast-paced, ambitious environment, this position provides the opportunity to influence enterprise-level decisions, drive transformation, and champion meaningful value for Personal banking clients.

What will you do?

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Provide proactive thought leadership and strategy support to the C&L EVP and SMT

  • Partner with business leaders to develop & articulate a comprehensive C&L strategy

  • Lead C&L Loyalty strategic agenda, with multi-year strategic priorities aligned with enterprise objectives and client-first approach

  • Translate complex business dynamics, market insights & data into compelling narratives that inform strategic choices & capital allocation

Team Leadership & Capability

  • Mentor team members on complex strategic challenges and strategic thinking

  • Foster a high-performance culture driving LOB and enterprise value delivery

  • Continue to elevate C&L team culture through effective team routines (e.g., Town Halls & other events)

Executive Partnership

  • Serve as strategic advisor and a key partner to C&L SMT

  • Produce and present materials for EVP-level reviews and executive decision-making

  • Support important internal business routines & external partnership routines, connecting strategic dots to drive impactful management insights and outcomes

Business Impact

  • Lead identification and quantification of major strategic opportunities (revenue streams, cost savings, market expansion)

  • Drive transformation initiatives and cross-platform collaboration across C&L

  • Ensure strategies are aligned across businesses and embedded operationally

What Do You Need to Succeed?

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years in Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, Capital Markets, or strategic product/P&L management in Financial Services

  • High professional maturity, emotional intelligence, comfort navigating ambiguity and conceptual thinker with ability to grasp broader issues quickly

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate with senior executives (VP level and above)

  • Strong analytical capabilities with ability to synthesize complex information into clear strategic recommendations

  • Collaborative work style and excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain relationships at various level within the organization

  • Active listener, respectfully challenges, negotiates & influences outcomes, with a OneRBC approach

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills and presence; strong technical ability with PowerPoint, Excel and Word; and strong business & financial acumen

  • High level of initiative, motivation and inspires those around them

  • Proven experience building and leading strategy teams

Nice-to-Have:

  • Deep knowledge of Cards and/or Loyalty industry

  • Experience with digital transformation or business model innovation

  • Track record of delivering transformational initiatives

  • Prior experience in Financial Services or FinTech
