Principal Senior Solutions Architect Core Banking

What is the opportunity?

This role will be responsible for multiple aspects of RBC's global strategy for core banking. Through your leadership and collaboration with architecture leaders across Canada, US and Europe you will help shape the technology ecosystem that will enable RBC's ambition of becoming a top global bank. You will have the opportunity to define technical strategies and delivery roadmaps that incrementally evolve our domain architectures through renovation or re-platforming of existing systems in client information management, deposits and retail banking investments. You will collaborate with business and technology teams to accelerate our team’s agility through the application of advanced AI tools and agentic AI processes.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with senior business and technology leaders and RBC AI Group to apply agentic AI to the modernization of core banking across the enterprise
  • Define and socialize technology strategies in alignment with RBC technology standards in AI, Cloud, Data, Security and multiple enterprise technology platforms
  • Create architecture blueprints and lead critical architecture decisions through Architecture Review Boards, Athena certifications and other governance processes
  • Lead technical streams of RFPs, engaging vendors to understand solution fit with RBC technology standards and business objectives
  • Analyze the viability of solutions to meet project timeline and budget constraints and define delivery roadmaps that clearly identify transitional architectures towards target state
  • Proactively identify and champion opportunities to enhance the resiliency of our core banking platforms while minimizing operational and technical debt associated with tactical approaches
  • Provide technical leadership to projects from idea creation through to implementation stages.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Requires 5 to 7 years of related experience in Solution or Enterprise Architecture, Application design and complex integrations projects
  • Good understanding of AI, LLMs, Agentic AI and prompt engineering
  • Strong skills in communication, negotiation skills and stakeholder management with ability to influence at the Director level (unit and other partner units)
  • Strong understanding of financial services industry

Nice-to-have

  • Data architecture and data modeling
  • Customer Master Data Management
  • Experience integrating SaaS or other 3rd party solutions
  • IBM Mainframe
