The Investment Products Advisory Group (IPAG) supports the positioning of RBC GAM investment solutions and capital markets views across Canadian retail and private client distribution channels. The team specializes in providing product support and producing impactful investment content in collaboration with our investment teams and marketing partners.
The ultimate goal of IPAG is to empower RBC GAM distribution teams with the resources they need to deliver best-in-class service to advisors and help them drive better client conversations. The Portfolio Analyst plays a critical role within the team, developing and maintaining a broad range of resources that communicate our investment capabilities, while delivering highly responsive and exceptional service to our channels.
In this role you will collaborate with other members of the Investment Products Advisory Group as well as our investment teams, marketing partners and sales teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that our sales teams have relevant and timely investment insights, education and content required to promote and position these strategies to their clients.
What will you do?
- Utilize exceptional writing skills to oversee and generate industry leading content for the Daily Market Update, a critical publication that is distributed to over 16,000 readers daily.
- Anticipate what market events will require proactive messaging; have the ability to swiftly generate high quality content that explains market developments and how this may impact portfolios.
- Identify themes in the market that can support sales initiatives; apply outstanding communication and visualization skills to create & develop content that will drive sales and retention.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of investment products and markets to credibly explain and write about investment themes for both sophisticated and non-sophisticated audiences; have the ability to adapt communication style in order to resonate with a wide range of investors.
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the firm’s capital market views and financial market conditions to empower advisors with the information they need to have effective and highly productive investment conversations with their clients.
- Collaborate with other members of the team to help address and respond to comprehensive inquiries about RBC GAM’s market outlook in a timely and accurate manner.
- Produce and maintain consistent, high-quality investment-related content that communicates portfolio strategy, positioning, results, market insights and/or capital markets views.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of RBC GAM’s investment philosophies and processes and be able to concisely relay this information in verbal and written communications.
- Possess a high level of understanding of how sales channels, investment capabilities and business drivers fit together; collaborate effectively with colleagues across product, sales, marketing and compliance teams.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry
- Exceptional written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience developing and writing investment-related content, particularly in a fast-paced environment
- A strong understanding of the retail banking landscape and its client base; in-field experience a strong asset
- Ability to distill large amounts of information into tangible and understandable messages
- Completed or near completion of the CFA program
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, specifically related to charting, formatting, and data analysis
- Innovative self-starter with acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills with ability to work in high pressure situations
- Team player with the ability to work independently and to prioritize and multitask in an unstructured environment in order to meet tight timelines
Nice to Have
- Experience with Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg
- Bilingual French communication would be an asset

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.
Pay Range
The expected pay range for this position is:
$55,000.00 - $90,000.00The pay range provided is for the primary work location referenced in the Additional Job Details section of this job posting. Pay ranges may differ based on location.
