Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a Senior Manager, Network & Security Operations, you will lead a team of highly skilled Senior Network and Security Analysts responsible for the operational excellence, reliability, and security of RBC's critical global datacenter network and security infrastructure.

You will drive operational discipline, team development and continuous improvement while managing a team across specialized domains (SD-WAN Networking, Security Operations, App Delivery & VPN). This is a leadership role where you'll combine deep technical expertise with people management, SRE adoption, and modernization initiatives to reduce incident response times, automate manual toil, and build a high-performing operations team that supports RBC's digital transformation and global banking operations 24/7.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Lead a team of Senior Network and Security Analysts. Provide coaching, mentorship and performance management to drive team capability, retention, and career growth.
  • Oversee 24/7 operations of network and security infrastructure services (dependent on specialization: SD-WAN, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Remote Access, or DNS) ensuring high availability and security posture aligned to SLAs.
  • Drive operational excellence through incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), problem management and continuous improvement. Establish standards for triage, escalation and knowledge documentation.
  • Champion SRE practices and automation adoption across your team. Define observability requirements, build runbook libraries, identify automation opportunities and reduce manual toil.
  • Participate in major incident leadership (MIMT) and escalation management workflows. Provide technical expertise and stakeholder communication during critical infrastructure events.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Cloud Operations, and Integration teams on infrastructure improvements, technology refreshes, migrations, and operational readiness.
  • Identify and mentor talent for succession planning. Recommend promotions, foster continuous learning through training, certifications, and emerging technology exposure.
  • Represent team in vendor calls, vendor management and technology evaluations. Provide operational perspective on platform design, optimization, and lifecycle management.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

  • 5+ years of enterprise network and/or security operations experience, with 3+ years managing technical teams (direct or dotted-line reports).
  • Deep technical expertise in network and security infrastructure (at least one or across Routing/ Switching, Firewalls, Load Balancing, Remote Access/VPN, IPS/IDS, DDoS, DNS or Cyber ops)
  • Proven incident management and troubleshooting experience. Can lead complex RCA, identify root causes and implement permanent solutions for critical infrastructure issues.
  • Strong team leadership and people management skills. Can hire, develop, coach, and retain technical talent. Comfortable with performance management and difficult conversations.
  • Experience with SRE practices, observability or automation in operations (runbooks, monitoring, toil reduction initiatives preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills. Can articulate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, comfortable presenting to leadership and can mentor diverse skill levels on team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in financial services (banking, trading, payments) or other mission-critical environments where operational reliability is paramount.
  • Familiarity with cloud operations or multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, hybrid cloud models).
  • Exposure to automation tools, Infrastructure-as-Code, or scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Industry certifications: CCNP, Palo Alto Certified, ITIL Expert, or equivalent vendor/security certifications

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • At RBC, we thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
  • Competitive Total Rewards Program including bonuses, flexible benefits, stock options, and comprehensive health/wellness coverage.
  • Strong mentorship from leadership, clear career pathway that support your development through coaching and managing opportunities.
  • Leadership of a high-performing team; opportunity to build culture, mentor talent and drive organizational transformation (SRE adoption, modernization initiatives).
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact on RBC's operational resilience; support critical infrastructure affecting $billions in daily transactions globally
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative & innovative environment focused on digital transformation and emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud integration).
  • Comprehensive professional development: Industry conferences, certifications, training programs, and exposure to cutting-edge technology initiatives.
  • Flexible work/life balance with remote work options; work-life integration support; competitive PTO and parental leave.
  • Access to diverse career opportunities across RBC; internal mobility; cross-business exposures and international assignments
  • Join a purpose-driven organization; contribute to RBC's commitment to supporting communities, sustainability and social impact.
