Role Overview
The Market Lead, Indigenous Wealth Solutions is responsible for driving the growth, development, and success of the Indigenous Wealth Solutions business by acquiring, deepening, and strengthening relationships with Indigenous clients and communities. This role leads a team of professionals dedicated to delivering tailored trust and wealth solutions that respect the unique needs, priorities, and cultural nuances of the Indigenous communities we serve.
As the leader of the Indigenous Wealth Solutions team and a key member of the Indigenous Trusts National Centre of Excellence, the Market Lead reports to the Regional Director and supports Scotiabank’s Truth and Reconciliation commitments through action, education, community engagement, and advocacy. The role acts as a trusted advisor and ambassador, raising awareness of Scotiatrust’s Indigenous capabilities and strengthening partnerships across Scotiabank and Indigenous communities.
The Market Lead is accountable for business growth, client experience, team leadership, risk management, and operational excellence. This includes leading the delivery of consistent, high-quality service while ensuring fiduciary responsibilities, regulatory obligations, and governance standards are maintained.
Success in this role is demonstrated through strong client and community relationships, achievement of business growth objectives, development of high-performing teams, effective risk oversight, and meaningful contributions to Scotiabank’s Indigenous and Truth and Reconciliation priorities.
The role requires strong leadership capability, business development expertise, Indigenous relationship management experience, sound judgment, and the ability to lead with cultural awareness, integrity, and accountability.
Some of the Key Accountabilities
- Develop and execute acquisition, retention, and relationship growth strategies that support sustainable business growth and community impact.
- Build and strengthen relationships with Indigenous clients, Nations, communities, rights holders, internal partners, and Centres of Influence.
- Lead and coach a team of trust professionals to deliver exceptional client service, operational excellence, and business results.
- Maintain a strong prospect pipeline and identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and expand services.
- Ensure fiduciary responsibilities, regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and audit standards are consistently met.
- Monitor key performance indicators, service standards, and portfolio performance to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as a key escalation point for client, relationship, operational, and governance matters.
- Support the Indigenous Trusts National Centre of Excellence through education, advocacy, and community involvement initiatives.
- Manage branch or business unit performance, including revenue generation, engagement objectives, and P&L accountability.
- Travel to Indigenous communities and attend meetings outside of regular business hours as required.

- Professional accreditation such as LLB/JD, MBA, or similar designation is considered an asset.
- Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation, or equivalent, is desirable.
- Membership in the National Aboriginal Trust Officers Association is considered an asset.

- Extensive experience in Professional Administration (e.g., Law, Accounting, Estate and Trust Administration, Financial Services).
