We currently have a full time opportunity for an Environment and Carbon Reduction Specialist. This role is based out of one our office in Dartmouth, NS, Montreal; QC. Come join our Sobeys climate action team in the Real Estate division as the Environment and Carbon Reduction Specialist, In our Energy and Carbon Reduction team. Part of our Climate Action Plan is to reduce our carbon footprint by 55% by 2030 and to be net zero by 2040. We are searching for a teammate who is passionate about the environment and sustainability and can coordinate environment and climate action projects and is a change management champion. Job Description This role will work within our real estate, energy and carbon reduction team to support the timely planning and execution of environmental remediation, and climate action projects. This includes: Environmental assessment and remediation project specialist for property transactions for the National Real Estate, Construction, and Fuels Teams. Environmental management of Sobeys property portfolio, including regulatory compliance, remediation and management planningPrepare quarterly environmental report for Board of Directors Support Sobeys 2030 climate action strategy, including project implementation and execution and reporting, ensure the projects are completed on time and budgetCreate and manage PO’s, change orders, and invoicing Source and procure site-specific equipment for the program Investigate new /emerging scope one emissions reducing technologies that can be implemented in our grocery stores. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in field such as science, sustainability, environmental sciences, or engineering, or commerce 3-5 years related experience in environmental management emphasis on contaminated site regulations, project coordination, sustainability and/ or energy management, strategy, and implementationStrong preference: Bilingual (Eng / Fr)A strong technical competence in Microsoft Office applications, including word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook. A strong understanding and working knowledge of green building practices and reporting such as LEED, GRESB, and others. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as member of large national team.
