Job Description:
Sun Life’s Defined Benefit Solutions (DBS) business develops and implements innovative de-risking solutions for defined benefit pension plans. The Analyst, Integration and Onboarding supports the team to ensure a smooth transition between new business activities and ongoing operations. The Analyst also supports servicing activities and reports to the Manager, Integration and Onboarding, Defined Benefit Solutions.
Role summary:
The Analyst, Integration and Onboarding, DBS will be responsible for managing some of DBS’ new business implementations as well as supporting and collaborating on different opportunities to improve tools, processes, and efficiency around our implementation and client experience capabilities.
Key accountabilities:
New business implementation
Partner with the Client Relationships and Structuring teams to understand special circumstances and relevant knowledge around upcoming new business.
Review and analyse quotes, plan rules and data to ensure that information is complete and accurate.
Deliver on implementation processes from beginning to end and ensure adequate tracking of progress.
Ensure proper documentation for all internal stakeholders to ensure adequate day-to-day servicing to members, and participate in any quality audit reviews.
Attend relevant trainings to support the team in achieving great results.
Support client discussions and provide great client servicing experience when required.
Understand the member experience and how new implementations and system set up might impact that experience.
Act as subject matter expert for implementation work and defined benefit pension plans, in various projects and initiatives.
Continuous improvements
Contribute to proactive identification of issues that may affect our members, our clients, or our business, and collaborate with the team to investigate solutions to solve them.
Deliberately spend time on continuous improvements and help developing and maintaining an ongoing list of potential projects to drive innovation and enhancements of current processes and tools.
Support the development of promising continuous improvements by partnering with other DBS teams.
Support the Manager on documenting prioritization process and support discussions with DBS’ and GRS’ senior management to prioritize these opportunities.
Present at the DBS Inforce Lab when applicable.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics
Minimum of 3 years of insurance and/or pension experience in an actuarial role
Very strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills that allow for challenging analysis.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to explain complex ideas to non-actuaries.
Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide.
Strong curiosity and proactivity with the capacity to identify potential risks early on.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
Ability to interpret and apply pension plan rules, regulations, and actuarial principles.
Previous experience in client servicing is an asset.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
