Job Description:

As the Senior Digital Marketing Consultant, your focus will be on coaching top advisors on their marketing strategies to grow their businesses and engage with Clients.

The Senior Digital Marketing Consultant will help define and lead the service strategy for Sun Life Financial Distribution (SLFD) best advisors, with a focus on integrating business partners and field leaders into the model at key moments during the advisors’ marketing journey in order to benefit their overall marketing objectives.

You will be responsible for providing tailored and expedited service to our best Sun Life advisors to help differentiate their businesses and their personal brands from the mass market. You will coach advisors to help use the marketing assets & capabilities to drive leads, sales & engagement. You will develop individual marketing plans and share effective strategies with advisors to reach their target markets and measure their results. Where necessary, you will refer the advisor to recommended vendors to fulfill all aspects of their marketing plan and helps to oversee the development and internal approval processes associated with the work.

The Senior Digital Marketing Consultant is responsible for defining and meeting timelines that reflect the needs driving each advisor’s marketing and sales objectives and ensuring all materials meet brand guidelines, as well as legal and compliance requirements. The candidate is someone who is self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver on all aspects of an advisors' marketing needs. You like to work in consultation mode with Clients, are resilient, enjoy delivering presentations, have good communication and organization skills and are well-versed in digital marketing best practices.

The Senior Digital Marketing Consultant reports into the Director, Digital Marketing Services. The Advisor Sales and Marketing Support team delivers customized, bespoke marketing initiatives at the regional, team and individual advisor levels. The team is accountable to define and deliver marketing programs that effectively position Sun Life advisors’ distinctive value propositions for target clients and drive leads, sales and Client engagement.

What will you do?

  • Advisor consultation: work 1:1 with advisors to analyze or build their individual marketing plans and coach them on marketing assets & capabilities
  • Enhance our communication and activation capabilities to amplify the awareness and usage of our services by advisors and staff.
  • Build relationships with advisors and business partners, prioritize and scale customized initiatives. Gather feedback to refine and improve.
  • Provide strategic recommendations that support the individual needs of the best advisors & clients
  • Champion innovation supporting the advisor experience, ensuring we are delivering enhanced value by anticipating and meeting their needs to support clients.
  • Deliver presentations to various audiences as they relate to the advisor program (i.e. field leader meetings, program events, regional events)
  • Continuously identify opportunities to create additional value, generate new ideas and creative solutions that help advisors grow and manage their practice.
  • Reporting and analysis: provide metrics and analysis on marketing plan performance, Client engagement, lead generation & sales.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience working with and servicing experienced advisors in the financial services space
  • Experience operating in an agile marketing environment and ability to identify opportunities to link projects, initiatives or promotions together
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to present with impact, facilitate, negotiate and influence advisors and field leaders, various internal stakeholders and Clients
  • Proven ability to influence and inspire teams and must be able to consult, influence and negotiate with people from diverse backgrounds and levels throughout the organization
  • In-depth analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of insurance and Investments products
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and able to manage multiple high-priority projects
  • Strong understanding of digital technologies and communications.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to constantly evolving business priorities
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills within and across business units

What will be nice to have:

  • Post-secondary education, and 5-8 years of experience in the fields of marketing, social media, business, or communications
  • Previous experience in an account management role
  • Experience in the financial services industry

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
