Job Description:
The Third Party Insurance Distribution (Wholesale) team is responsible for growing insurance sales for both life and critical illness amongst our independent distributors; Managing General Agencies and National Account distribution partners. The Account Manager is responsible for the relationship development and management with key administrative and operational contacts at the distribution partner as well as the execution/implementation of strategic marketing and sales initiatives through the appropriate distribution partners.
What will you do?
The Account Manager’s main objective is to support the distribution partners in the training, delivery and execution of key initiatives to ensure penetration of advisor base. In order to meet this objective, AMs will:
- Plan and manage use of marketing allowance with each partner in conjunction with appropriate RVP
- Plan, manage and follow up on any events resulting from the use of the partner firm’s marketing allowance
- Consistent networking with key contacts (eg, Business Development Manager, Back Office Manager) at partner firms (via f2f, email, calls)
- Know and understand the infrastructure of each partner and how they want to do business with SLF
- Be the champion of issues/concerns for your key contact at the partner firm within SLF
- Develop internal relationships to help facilitate resolution of issue/concern (key areas: Distribution Compensation, New Business, Underwriting, Inforce Service Operations, Advisor Site, Wealth, Group)
- Know and understand the technology and tools used by each partner and how that may be leveraged for current or future SLF promotions (such as e-learning and digital strategy)
- Provide training expertise on SLF tools and processes (such as Advisor Site, Eos, New Business processes)
- Be an entrepreneur - work with each partner to develop initiatives specifically for them
- Be the SME (subject matter expert) on the project to ensure partners needs are understood and met
- Works with partner to efficiently and effectively communicate and rollout new product launches, product reprice, marketing material, software distributions
- Keep external key contacts (business development & back office) informed on what is coming and other opportunities within SLF such as webinars, roadshows, impacts to service standards
- Collaborate with internal team (RVP/AVP, Business Development, Regional Sales Director) around what is coming and other opportunities with the partner such as LB schools, campaigns, Head Office tours and any issues.

What will be nice to have:
- University Degree or equivalent
- 5 years insurance industry experience
- Fluently Bilingual - English and Mandarin written and spoken
- Knowledge of SLF life/health products would be an asset
- Solid understanding of internet-based tools and contact management systems
Additional Requirement:
- 25% Travel is required within Canada

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
