Job Description:

We are seeking a detail oriented, highly organized, goal oriented/driven individual with excellent communication skills to deliver Backup/Recovery and Storage services. Candidate will work closely with Program/Project Management, IT Managers, SME’s and project teams to deliver solutions.

As the successful candidate, you have expert knowledge of the technical streams associated with data protection, disk storage, cloud services and relevant systems management technologies, and are skilled in restoring service and assistance through identifying the root cause of problems that may appear within the environment.

PLEASE NOTE: The ability to attain Reliability Status Clearance for this role is essential. At the time of your application, you must have lived continuously in Canada for the last 5+ years.

What will you do?

• Participate in project implementation: setup new backup infrastructure on-prem and in AWS cloud: install/configure new PPDM/DataDomain appliance, install/configure Rubrik infrastructure in AWS cloud.
• Provide operational support for day-to-day activities including alerting, monitoring, trending and proactive health and wellness of the backup environments, Diagnose and troubleshoot backup and storage hardware and software issues to ensure data integrity and system efficiency
• Develop scripts for automated management ( Shell, PowerShell, Python, etc), Work with DevOps team on service delivery automation by using automation tools (like Ansible, Terraform, CDD etc).
• Security and Compliance: Ensure backup and storage system comply with organizational policies, industry standards and regulatory requirement. Remediate security vulnerabilities and implement AirGap solutions.
• Cloud storage management: Provision AWS FSx/EFS file share, manage filesystem capacity, performance etc.
• Participate in regular disaster recovery testing and perform data recovery/restore testing
• Participate in on-call rotation

What will you need to succeed?

• At least 3 years of relevant experience with relevant IT infrastructure and platform, strong knowledge in one or more of the following Engineering domains: networking, distributed / server, storage, data protection/recovery technology
• Working experience in one or more products or solutions: Dell/EMC PPDM/Avamar, DataDomain, Rubrik, AWS cloud, AWS backup, AWS FSx/EFS/S3 storage services
• Strong problem-solving skills with an understanding of problem management, change management, implementation processes, and configuration and release management methodologies (ITIL)
• Experience working on service automation by using scripting (shell script, PowerShell, Python, etc) or automation tools ( like Ansible, Terraform, etc)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
