Job Description:
This is a Temporary Position for One Year

As a Disability Claims Consultant: You will be responsible for assessing disability claim appeals and oversight of our critical financial expenditures that impact profitability and liability of the claims that are managed within our operation.
What will you do?
Assess and manage disability claim appeals in accordance with organizational claims practices and service standards
Coach and mentor case managers on quality case management, continuous improvement, and gap closure
Demonstrate strong knowledge of group insurance, disabilities, and claims management strategies
Exhibit excellent communication, organizational, and people management skills
Apply risk management expertise to coaching on disability and financial implications
Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance service excellence and financial performance
Report on emerging trends and leverage learnings regionally and nationally
Partner with colleagues to support professional development and drive team excellence and business retention
What do you need to Succeed?
3-5 years Disability Claims experience
Exceptional case management skills with focus on positive outcomes
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and influence others effectively
Client-focused mindset with critical thinking and stellar customer service
Strong listening skills and empathy
Ability to deliver constructive feedback tactfully and productively
Resilience in high-pressure situations
Adaptability and strong decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to lead through change
Solid knowledge of group insurance policy and strategic interventions
Strong software skills
Ability to transfer knowledge and promote skill implementation in others
Assets:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience
Bilingualism is an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
