Job Description:

This role is part of the Individual Wealth Reporting and Controls team and supports Sun Life Financial Trust Inc.’s (SLFT) financial and regulatory reporting processes. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Intermediate Financial Analyst helps ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately, completely, and on time. Key responsibilities include month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement and regulatory reporting support, and maintaining an effective control environment in compliance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., OSFI, CDIC). The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

What will you do?

  • Prepare and post journal entries for SLFT and support day-to-day accounting activities (e.g., payments, client statements), including execution of key controls

  • Support month-end close activities, including preparing and completing monthly account reconciliations and clearing reconciling items

  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and variances identified during close and reporting processes

  • Prepare financial statements and related regulatory and statutory filings for SLFT

  • Support regulatory, external, and internal audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to information requests

  • Contribute to quarterly reporting packages and presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors

  • Support team initiatives to improve processes, controls, and reporting

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 2–3 years of progressive accounting and/or financial reporting experience; CPA (or equivalent) completed or in progress

  • This role can be reported under the CPA experience verification pathway

  • Strong multi-taking still with the ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Owner’s mindset: self-directed, adaptable, proactive, and collaborative in a changing environment

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with regulatory reporting and/or working in a deposit-taking institution is an asset

  • Proficiency in Excel and Copilot and working knowledge of IFRS, internal controls, and financial close processes; experience with reporting tools/systems is an asset

Notes/Unique Requirements:

  • Some overtime will be required during peak reporting periods (month and quarter ends).

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
